With respect to the crazy comment about the QB from Athens being overrated, which is simply not true, just be reminded that a certain QB by the name of Tom Brady (maybe you have heard of him) didn't play his first couple years at Michigan and even was booed on occasion after he did start and had a up and down career by some accounts.

Just a reality check to keep things in perspective.

Our best athlete was the best player on a team that made the final four their freshman year. And then won three gold medals. Was named to their professional league's all-star team seven times. Made the all-decade team. Made the top 15 players in history. Made the league's top 20 players in history.

Her jersey hangs in the rafters at the Schottenstein Center.



Our most accomplished football player started on a Rose Bowl championship team at Ohio State in 1996 (as a sophomore) and on a Sugar Bowl championship team in 1998.

Joe Burrow was the best HS QB to ever play in this part of the state and one of the best EVER in Ohio. He's EXTREMELY good at Ohio State. If he doesn't win the job its because its a University that attracts the top talent in America.

Athens knows the mvl well since we knocked off Tri Valley in the playoffs. 2014 Tri Valley team was a carbon copy of the 09 Logan team. Maybe a slight edge to TV because of that defense

You're referencing one MVL team.

Logan has scrimmaged Sheridan for 15 years. We played New Lex for 12 or 13 years in a row.

We played Tri-Valley in a playoff game in 2007.




And that TV team is was only similar to 2009 Logan in that they ran spread offenses and had dual threat QBs. That TV team was WAY more power run oriented on offense and used the QBs legs a TON more than Logan.

The 2008 Logan defense was pretty darn close to TV's. You are correct that that TV team had a superior defense to the '09 Logan team.

Sheridan should win by 2 or 3 TDs in my opinion.

As for some of the other discussion, after Athens beat Tri-Valley two years in a row in the playoffs, TV had an opening week 1 and saw Athens posted an open week 1. (I think it was 2016.) TV called and AD Chuck Robinson said no way.

Athens had a great QB, a few other D1 kids, and a lot of other kids who played hard. It was a great team.

The Logan team that Tri-Valley played in the playoffs was a very talented team. The week before Tri-Valley lost in week 10 to Uniontown Lake 42-0 in the pouring rain. TV was a pass first team and Lake gave them a good ole fashion butt kicking. The next week a very determined Tri-Valley pulled what I consider an upset of Logan. Following week TV lost to the eventual state runner up Louisville 21-13. It was the beginning of a great decade of football for TV.

Last year, Sheridan ended Tri-Valley's 48 game MVL win streak. Still talent in Thornville. Lost close games to Licking Valley and John Glenn that they could have won. I expect a very motivated General team tomorrow night.

We in Logan find no surprise in the first part of your post. They dropped Logan in 2008 at the end of our "decade of dominance" and missed out on the chance to crush Logan from 2010-2014.

Their loss.

Logan opened with Athens in 2015 and moved the game to week six starting in 2016. Athens obviously chose to open with Warren instead of TV.


TV was very good in 2007. That was a slugfest - one of the all-time classics in Logan football history. Think it was two evenly matched teams. Maybe an upset because Logan was at home, but that's all IMO.


Sheridan should be 3-0 as I wrote in my scouting report for the Logan Daily News. Sheridan rebuilds like Logan didfrom 1998-2009 - still winning about all your games.

Logan hasn't played an MVL team since that 2007 playoff game against the Scotties. They last played a regular season game against the MVL in 2002.

Logan opened 28 of 31 season from 1972-2002 against New Lex.

Excited to have TV and Sheridan both on the schedule next year.

First time.

Have to remember the MVL has had 9 and 10 members for a long time. They haven't had a lot of dates to schedule no league games.

I think Sheridan opened in 1961. Used to play them in basketball a bit back in the '60s.

Never played Alexander in football either. And haven't played Vinton County since the late '60s.
