ironton took one on the chin to fairland last night after having an 8 point lead very late in the game only to see fairland tie it up and convert on a 2 point conversion to tie thing at 21. then with mere seconds left to go in the game connected on a touchdown pass that left the fighting tigers only 3 seconds left to work with on the ensuing kickoff. this was the first time a Lawrence county team had beaten ironton since 1961. if memory serves me correct that was rock hill.

and the Ashland tomcats came from behind and knocked off the Russell red devils. this game will be at the ''big litter box'' in Ashland, ky. it should be a big catfight for sure.

Simply put, No. 1-3 is a tough way to start any season and that's exactly what is about to happen.

THAT VERY WELL COULD HAPPEN FRIEND. NO DOUBT IRONTON SHOULD BE CONSIDERED THE UNDERDOG EVEN THOUGH THE TOMCATS ARE 2-2. BUT THIS IS A LONGTIME RIVALRY GAME. OLE BAIT'S GRANDPA POPPA BILL BAIT TOLD ME STORIES WHEN I WAS A YOUNG BAIT THAT BACK IN THE 30'S IRONTON PLAYED THE TOMCATS, AND MOST OF THE ASHLAND TOMCAT PLAYERS WERE IN THEIR EARLY 20'S AND ACTUALLY WORKED IN THE STEEL MILL ARMCO IN ASHLAND, KY. TRUE STORY. SO THIS RIVALRY IS LONG IN THE TOOTH AND ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN.

ironton football if not jerked up by the drawers is in serious peril as far as heading for a complete collapse.

as much as that is said. I know of nobody on ironton's staff that has ever said ''it's only ashland''. I don't know of me ever saying it, I know that.

You're tiger bait, it was not Rock Hill that beat Ironton in 1961. Believe it or not these 2 schools did not even play each other until 1995 in the state playoffs.
