Game Report: Bellaire 35 Caldwell 6

Post by LICKING COUNTY FAN »

Yesterday afternoon at Nelson Field in Bellaire, Ohio in the wind and cold the hometown Bellaire Big Reds dominated a Caldwell Redskins team, by the count of 35-6. The game was never in doubt as the Big Reds defense allowed only a total of 114 yards for the entire contest, while its offense totaled 447 yards.

Bellaire would just miss taking a 3-0 lead, with 8:14 left in the first quarter, when Mason Ramsey had his 30-yard field goal bounce off the left upright and fall back toward the field of play.

At the 5:24 mark of the quarter Cole Porter was able to pick up 38-yards thanks to a big block, that I believe came from Cody Albaugh. From there it would not take long for this to become a 7-0 game. The score came with 3:57 left in the quarter, with the points coming from a Ramsey one-yard plunge. Thor Duffy would do the holding and Ramsey made the point after kick, to give Bellaire the 7-0 lead.

With less than a minute showing on the clock, Ramsey hit Duffy for a 16-yard gain.
Duffy would pick up 12-yards with a little more than :35 left.

Just 1:08 into the 2nd quarter, Bellaire took a 14-0 lead, after Duffy went 7-yards ,after his line made a huge hole to waltz through. The point after was good by Ramsey. The drive lasted for 10-plays and totaled 51-yards.

Caldwell's offense was basically run up the middle, run up the middle and run up the middle, would have little success all game long and to make an already windy, cold day longer the Redskins Drew Ivey cough the ball up, but coming along to save the drive was,Jeremy Ditch, with 7:48 left in the half. The offense would sputter a few moments later and be forced to put its defense back on the field.

Bellaire would only need three-plays to eighty-one-yards The scoring play was a 81-yard pass to Gabriel Rejonis from Ramsey. The kid throws a pretty ball and his receiver made the catch and run look easy. The point after made this a 21-0 game, with 6:18 left in the half.

Ivey would be held to a 1-yard gain, when he was thrown down by, Grant Gheen, with 4:31 left in the half.
The Bellaire defense plugged the middle and made this almost impossible for the run up the guy offense, the Redskins showed on this day.

Cole Porter would fumble the ball and making the recovery for the Redskins was, Robbie Cool, with 4:01 left. The Caldwell offense again failed to do anything with the ball and again their defense was right back out on the field.

Just 1:24 left in the half, the Caldwell defense, who played as well as they could with the way the offense struggled, would get a sack on Ramsey, when #34 Caden Brownfield got to the talented quarterback. With 59.7 Seconds left Ramsey threw a 77-yard touchdown pass to Rejoins. The point after made this a 28-0 score.

With a running clock most of the 2nd half neither team had a lot of offense plays. Bellaire ran 18 plays, while the Redskins ran 19.
Bellaire score one time as did Caldwell.

The Bellaire score came from a 7-yard run by, Trace Sechrist. The point after made this a 35-0 game.
With many of the 2nd unit in Bellaire would fumble the ball away and the Redskins came up with it. Cole Garvin would cap off a 9-play, 38-yard drive, with a 10-yard run. A two point conversion run was stuffed by Bellaire.

UNOFFICIAL STATS
