2000-2007
Waterford 7 wins
Fort Frye 1 win
2008-2016
Waterford 0 wins
Fort Frye 9 wins
(Waterford has only scored 39 points total in this 9 year span against FF)
Would love if Coach McCutcheon ended this streak, just don't know if it will happen.
Waterford was (6-2) vs Fort Frye from 00-07.. Waterford had 2 3 game winning streaks. Fort won in 00 and 04.

Re: WK3 (1-1) Fort Frye @ Waterford (2-0)
Fort Frye has outscored the Wildcats 318-39 the last 9 meetings.
Re: WK3 (1-1) Fort Frye @ Waterford (2-0)
So I know there aren't a lot of fans from either school on here and it seems most are fairly young, but interested in what people would consider the best couple games in this series. There really haven't been a lot of close ones and I believe Waterford only won twice before the turn of the century.
My personal favorite will always be Waterford's first win in the series in 85 with a HB Pass and a FG being the difference in a 10-7 game. That was Waterford's first .500 season (something else that was rare until after 2k) and FF was a decent team at 6-4.
There were a couple 7-6 games in the late 80s, maybe early 90s, but both teams were pretty bad then. Waterford almost scored a couple of upsets - I wasn't around to see it but I think 78 or 79 FF ran a trick play to score a winning TD? Vaguely recall an "almost" story from an old-timer but I could be way off. In the mid-90s an absolutely horrendous Waterford team lost 2-0. They drove late but missed on 4th down deep in FF territory to pretty much end it - zero faith in the kicking game led to going for it.
I recall a couple 3-point games for each team in the early 00s. The FF win with a pee wee coach after the game had been postponed by a storm (I think to a Monday?) was like watching a PlayStation game on the winning drive. QB draw, QB draw, QB draw, surely they won't run anoth...QB draw. Close score, but still not really what I'd call a great game.
Re: WK3 (1-1) Fort Frye @ Waterford (2-0)
I was thinking it was 86 the first year Waterford won.
I believe the score board was lit until the next day.
So all the passers-by could see it.
Now the scoreboard faces away from 339, blocking the view of an otherwise nice looking complex.

The Storm game was in 04.. They really rode Tyler Engle in that game. TJ Lang had a nice game blocking. Fort Frye only other score was a 45 yard Fumble Recovery when Craig Simms missed his block and Chris Mckim destroyed Matt Schott.
02 Game was epic.
Waterford got out to a big lead on the legs of ledgendary RB Dan Doebreiner Fort Frye couldn't move the ball on the ground at all and starting WR Larry Wallace was out. They went to 6-3 Aaron Sammons WR making his first career start. Josh Brooker hit Sammons for 3 2nd half Tds! The score was 20-21 and Fort missed the PAT. The play of the game was a 4th in 1 at midfield where Dan got the first by inches. I still think he was short to this day. Waterford would go on a score another TD late to win 28-20.

Which team do you guys think was better the 16 Wildcats that went to regionals or the 07 Derek Hoge team that went 9-1 and didn't make the playoffs. Hoge ran for 2000 in his first year at RB.
Waterford is RB High
Dan Doebereiner
Jason Sampson
Derek Hoge
Braden Bellville

It was the 85-86 school year, but football is entirely in the fall. The class of 86 would've been seniors on the team, but the game was played in 85.
Re: WK3 (1-1) Fort Frye @ Waterford (2-0)
Yes, good call. Had forgotten the details about that one. Fort Frye was not good that year and Waterford had been beaten by a mediocre Frontier team the week before. Danny is probably the best RB, maybe best player ever at Waterford? Two-time 1st Team All-Ohio.EasternDspy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2017 1:57 pm 02 Game was epic.

Last year's team was better overall IMO, though the 07 team may have had a few better individuals. Hoge is the best player on either of the teams; I think he was 2nd Team All-Ohio as a WR his junior year (Sampson was 1st Team at RB?) and then he may not have even moved to RB until a couple games into his senior year and still went for all those yards.EasternDspy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2017 2:02 pm Which team do you guys think was better the 16 Wildcats that went to regionals or the 07 Derek Hoge team that went 9-1 and didn't make the playoffs. That team should have beaten Wahama the first week; lost on a last-second FG. Waterford dominated everyone after Wahama, but only played one other team with a winning record. Also, hadn't been able to beat Beallsville (ever, literally), so they replaced them on the schedule with River Valley - a bigger school but they only won 1 game so that killed Waterford in computer points. Beallsville went 10-0. Had they beaten Wahama or kept Beallsville and happened to pull off their first win ever against them, they still likely would've lost a 1st round playoff game to Danville (same school that beat Doebereiner's playoff team).
Re: WK3 (1-1) Fort Frye @ Waterford (2-0)
The only thing that concerns me with this year's Cadets is the kicking game. It is going to play a major factor tomorrow night.

07, if there would've been a division VII then that team would've went deep into the playoffs. Not saying they last years team wasn't a phenomenal team I'm just saying they that 07 team was something else. Also Hoge only played RB in 9 gamesEasternDspy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2017 2:02 pm Which team do you guys think was better the 16 Wildcats that went to regionals or the 07 Derek Hoge team that went 9-1 and didn't make the playoffs.
