Fairfield Union(7) @ (31)Jackson

Post by Ironman92 »

Jackson coming off of a 35-0 win over Wellston and Fairfield Union winning 21-12 over New Lexington.

I don't know much of FU...do they still have the big lineman? Woodside?

Hoping the Ironmen tighten up on the penalties and come out with an injury free win.

For the Fairfield Union fans I recommend traveling down Rt 159 to Rt 35.....stay on Rt 35 until Rt 32 west. Once on Rt 32 west you'll go a few miles to Mayhew Rd---turn right then turn right onto Rt 139 ....high school on 139 on right. That entrance avoids town traffic and saves a lot of time. We do have a $2 parking fee.

Usually NL is a solid team. This game might turn out to be a dandy.

If jackson tightens up a few penaltys they should win.

If that's the case, then that may pose a bit of a problem for Jackson. The defensive front is very aggressive and hard-nosed, but they are a bit undersized. A big offensive line could wear them down throughout the game, so I would expect Coach Hall to sub some of the bigger guys like Morris and Priest in at DT as well to counteract that.

Jackson has the beef to go heavy if needed

Lots of times those big linemen wear down trying to stay with those smaller but faster guys.

FU fans that haven't been to Jackson will love the facilities, too bad I won't make it. Then you add the Marching 110 on top of that and it should be a great night. FU struggled in their first week game esp on offense. They run a balanced attack and the QB has a nice arm, he just struggled that night with accuracy. The defense played well but the team struggled with special teams esp kick coverage. Every kick was run back past midfield with the kicker making the tackle.
Good luck to both teams and hope each survives injury free. Go Falcons!!!!

imo, FU is opening the season at the best two venues in SE Ohio, in New Lex and Jackson. Both awesome places to watch a game! The 110 being there is awesome!!!

Jackson probably goes 2-0 against another smaller school.

glad this game is at jackson, so weather won't be an issue, and so the soccer field at FU won't be a disaster for next week !

Jackson 31
Fairfield Union 7

Torrential downpours throughout parts of the game. Jackson line cleaned up the penalties and pulled away in 2nd half.

McCoy cracked 200 yards I believe and Reid Evans had a great all-around game. Matt Humphreys was everywhere on defense and Benson just missed a 47 yard FG into the driving rain.

FU ran some real nice plays throughout the game but couldn't find the end zone enough.

OU Band was great

Good solid win for the Ironmen. Cold Rainy conditions . FU was huge upfront with a lot of seniors starting . They had a nice little passing game the first half that gave Jackson fits . Jackson seemed to make some good adjustments at halftime and separated a little bug in the second half. Good Luck to FU . They will win 5-6 games this season .

Really glad to see Jackson posting another win.
You guys in all likelihood move to 3-0, with Gallia Academy Blue Devils on deck.

Sounded like a solid effort from the Ironmen in some terrible weather. Good luck to Fairfield Union going forward.

Jackson and Gallia Academy will now resume their rivalry. Definitely a game that means a lot, so hopefully the Ironmen are ready to go when they make their first road trip of the season to Memorial Field.
