Re: Week 2 Sciotoville East @ Danville
It was 13-6 up to the end of the third quarter. They battled and played hard. East was inside the 10 three times and came away with "0" ..They were beat mentally after the third goose egg...looked to me as if they got gassed and just gave it away. All you mouth breathers running East down need to understand Only one team in Scioto county that could play with Danville and that's Burg, I have seen all the others and not impressed....They played 4 fast quarters of ball and East played 2 1/2 hard quarters. Hats off to the Danville program. That is definitely a football town.

Props to the east fans who made the 7-8 hour round trip in the rain to support their team.
Re: Week 2 Sciotoville East @ Danville
East may be the 4th best team in the county which isn't bad. East/Valley and East/Minford would be good games
Good effort though by East at Danville

Re: Week 2 Sciotoville East @ Danville
Over the years I have rally become a fan of Danville and how such a small school, can find a way to win game after game.
They never seem to make excuses, they just go out and play, whomever they are scheduled to play.
Congrats on getting it done again.

Defense powers Devils past Tartans
By FRED MAIN
News City Editor DANVILLE — The Danville football team has hung its hat on its defense for a long time.
Friday, they performed nearly flawlessly, shutting down a high-powered Sciotoville East squad and rolling to a 42-6 victory at Danville.
“We came out and executed on defense,” said defensive tackle Marshall Stull. “We were a little sloppy in the first half, but we came together in the second. ... We had prepared all week. We knew what they would try to do.”
Stull had three of the Blue Devils 12 tackles for loss on the night, and also added one of the three sacks. The senior and his defensive teammates held Sciotoville East to just 73 yards of offense on the night.
“We played well. They had good field position early because I was dumb and went for it (on fourth down). But, after they scored, we shut them down,” said Danville coach Ed Honabarger. “We need him (Stull) on the field. He did an excellent job. They couldn’t block him. ... Overall, our defense was pretty good tonight.”
Sciotoville (1-1) got on the board first, scoring on a 6yard touchdown strike from quarterback Brady Douthat to Tommy Lambert on a fourth down play late in the first quarter. But, from there, the Danville defense tightened, allowing just 40 yards of offense the rest of the game.
The Blue Devils (2-0) took the lead for good early in the second quarter when quarterback Skyler Durbin scored from 1-yard out. The Devils added another score when Durbin hit a wide open Tyler Mickley for a 28-yard score a little later.
A Danville fumble gave the Tartans an opportunity late in the half, but Alex Holt came up with an interception on a tipped ball to help bail out the Devils.
The Tartans looked like they might take control as they drove right down the field to begin the second half. But, Danville’s defense stiffened, thanks to a sack by Brice Berger.
From there, it was all Danville.
The Blue Devils racked up 181 yards rushing in the second half, scoring four times in the fourth quarter to put away the Tartans.
“We mixed up the run and pass pretty good (in the second half),” Honabarger said. “We ran a lot of formations at them, moving them around and trying to get good looks.”
Durbin finished the night with 79 yards rushing and hit on 10 of 15 passes for 114 yards. He also contributed four touchdowns, two rushing and two passing. Mickley added 57 yards rushing and had four catches for 41 yards, while Greenawalt had 53 yards rushing. Even freshman Justin Howell got into the act, racing for a 43-yard touchdown late in the game.
“We played for Jonathan (Wise, a classmate who died in an auto accident last week). We wanted to have a great game for him, and we did,” Stull said.
East was led by Ethan Gifford, who rushed 10 times for 18 yards. Douthat completed just 7 of 15 passes for 42 yards, but was sacked five times.
Danville will travel to Sugarcreek to take on Garaway next Friday.
“They’ve got a lot of athletes, and have run the spread for about 12 years now. They chuck the ball around. We’ve got to be prepared,” Honabarger said. “It’s a whole different day than the last two weeks. We’ll enjoy tonight and then start getting prepared for them.”

Re: East(6) @ (42)Danville
From the looks of that stat line, it sounds like east was dominated. 31 carrier for 31 yds?? 73 total yards??Yikes
And that's the bottom line, b/c Stone Cold said so....
Re: East(6) @ (42)Danville
Agreed...the score and stats are misleading. No excuses you have to finish, but Danville did all there damage in 10 minutes of the 4th quarter...
