Best available coaching job

Post by Poo Bear »

Let’s get everyone’s opinion of the best available coaching positions . That can include many things . Facilities , conference affiliation, school size , tradition, ect.

The three schools I know that are open , Athens , Logan , and coal grove .

All are successful programs historically.

I would rank them this way .

1. Athens - great facilities , have a great tradition the last 10 years , big student body to pool from , established conference that’s very winnable for them , biggest school in conference.

2. Coal grove - good football tradition, not sure on facilities ,established conference, smallest school in league

3. Logan - southern Ohio sleeping giant , when Logan is right they’re one of if not the best program in area. Great tradition , great facilities . But without a league it will be tough to get em rolling again.

4. New Lex- very cool facilities . Not sure much more about them

5. Chillicothe - great talent pool , beautiful facilities, solid league
please keep input clean and fun . If I miss any team I apologize

Chillicothe is also open. Lots of solid schools with new head coaches coming in.

That was a rumor that floated around but there have been no resignations. Last year, the board voted 4-1 to bring back the staff and coach Downs. The next boe meeting (Jan. 14) will most likely produce a vote. So we should know then.

Well as you can see there's different types of areas and program traditions to go with them. I think some of these would come down to the coach and his personality and what atmosphere rather it be larger, Chillicothe/Logan or smaller area like Coal Grove. I think with what Logan is doing in terms of facilities that is a place that is just screaming for the right person to turn it around. If I was looking that would probably be my 1st choice given that everyone around would understand it was a 2-3 year process in trying to turn things around during which we would be finding a league. Not sure about what Chilli and Athens has coming back but given their status within the leagues I think those 2 teams are almost turn key teams, new coach comes in and just don't screw it up so to speak. Don't know much about New Lex traditional a good quality program and Coal Grove probably little more roller coaster because of size and you'll have years that are even and some that are 8-10 win years. For me though I'd probably take on the Logan challenge.

Very good Input. Logan would almost be a rebuild and a coach would need 2-3 years to see progress . Progress would be measured in not so much wins or losses but number of kids out and kid lifting ect

Athens is a team due to its league will almost always be a 6-9 win team .

I would say Athens would be my pick

You’re perfectly fine in asking. You aren’t the first person! I’ll save my public opinions if/when a change is made. But no harm in asking about rumors.
