Rock Hill and Chesapeake has had a heated rivalry as of late, including one game that was called in the middle of the fourth quarter due to a bench clearing brawl (I wanna say 2013).
This game has always been a heated affair. 1974 game was at Rock Hill, Kevin Rice laid in the middle of the field at halftime in a muddy pool for a while as they wouldn't open the gates to allow the EMS in the gate to get Kevin. After the game was over they brought the busses on the field for the team and band to board, then we had a police escort all the way to Chesapeake. The following year, near the end of the game with Rock Hill ahead two Panthers knocked the Rock Hill return man out of bounds on the Rock Hill side up on the hill and he hit his head on the light pole. They went up to check on him, but were stopped by a bunch of Rock Hill fans. About that time County and State Highway officers arrived and escorted the Panthers back to the Peake sideline. A few years later Bill Poe from Rock Hill tried to fight Coach Coleman on Chesapeake sideline.

In my time of watching circa 1985...

Jackson vs Wellston
Jackson vs Logan for many of those years from 1995-2010
Jackson vs Burg last 6 years...they have dominated but a big game on our end, not sure about them but since our coaches are from Burg I’m guessing it’s pretty big

Our biggest rival though is Gallia Academy...bitter bitter rivals for so many years. Tight and crazy games, playoff matchup, league titles....I think the towns and schools despised each other. It was huge on here too. Had Gallia’s OC and so many posters and we went back and forth hard on here and the huddle.

Screw Gallia

Would like to know the won loss records in these two series and the first year played. Odie and/or Hobart use to post this on the game previews.

Minford-Valley (1981)
Minford ahead 18-16 with less than two minutes left. I pick off a pass at the goal line as Valley was driving to seal the Falcon win and the best record in the school's history at that time.

Yea, I read on here a few years ago that Hannan was something like 5-3 against Athens I think it was. With Hannan reeling off the last 4 or 5 in a row I can see why Athens dropped them.

I'm not sure if you've been around the area in the last, let's say, 20 years lol But Ny and Miller have absolutely NO beef. The 1997/98 guys might. But the schools play each other in other sports and are completely civil, and football would be the exact same way. I understand why the teams weren't allowed to play each other for the first few years after the fight.......but now? no way. no rivalry there WHAT-SO-EVER. Miller has 2 wins against NY and both came way before the 97/98 season. 1980 the last one lol

Athens will take place of old Pike County rival Piketon for Waverly, looking forward to that matchup next season

Should be an interesting match up. We lost a lot but have a lot of skill players and big kids coming back. Probably be a shoot out. Same with the Jackson game. I give both teams the edge but still should be fun games to watch

Waverly loses a good bit of the offensive and defensive line but keep a lot of the skill positions so it should be interesting

The old SOC had heated 1960's competition with the triumvirate of Notre Dame, Waverly, and West. Chuck Easley, Sam Varney, and Terry Gardner were notables..
