I think Davis picks apart Bishop Hartleys defense. Davis throws 5 touchdown passes.

Athens has a tall task ahead of them, don't see a remote chance for them.

Athens is doing better than fine. Light years ahead of where the program once was.
And in them years you guys beat good teams like stuebenville do what they do go independent play good teams and stop biting your nails when your 9- 1 or wait you like them TVC titles against the small schools

I wish Athens all the luck in the world but I'm afraid that they get beat rather easily by Hartley.

Good luck and good health to both teams.

Well Hartley put a running clock on Burg and Chillicothe. No one in SEO prepares you for Hartley. Kind of a stupid statement

The argument for Athens being in this game would go something like this:

Bishop Watterson beat Logan by a couple scores (14-0 or something like that) -
Bishop Watterson beat Desales by a score or so (21-14 or something like that) -
Desales played with Bishop Hartley but eventually lost (21-14) -
Athens beat Logan by .... guess what (21-14) -
Thus everyone in the above grouping (in this case specifically Athens and Hartley) are close to even -

That would be the argument if you wanted to make it - I believe none of it mind you, but that would be the logic one could apply if you wanted to attempt to rationalize it. As I said, I believe none of it.

34-10 Bishop Hartley is the prediction here.

Watkins Memorial was an average (5-5) team in 2013 & Jackson was a (6-4) D3 team.

Logan is bigger than Watkins and we had Canal, a D2 that went 9-1 this year on the schedule but they backed out. Our schedule would have been very comparable to 2013. Can't help it they back out on the contract & we had to pick up Fairland

I've said it a thousand times, no need to fix something that isn't broke.
Next year Athens plays Logan, Jackson, Waverly & Parkersburg South.
Hopefully that's good enough for everyone, but I doubt it. Lol

Until Athens non league schedule is consistently against teams comparable in size it won't be good enough for most. For me personally, I could care less, I'll root for the local schools come playoff time

It would be great if people could do that, but it will never happen.

What everyone fails to understand is that you first have to get the chance to play a team like Hartley. Athens is what, the 10th or 11th best team in the region? But we're still playing week 11. DeSales scheduled up and they are getting ready for basketball right now. Every year is different, but in this case (2018), if Athens played Jackson & Waverly they might be 7-3 and getting ready for hoops too.
What made this year so different was that every single team on Athens schedule had a down year & a few teams had tough schedules on top of that. Even still, the Bulldogs don't stub their toe at Fairland - they are hosting a playoff game for the 5th time in 8 years.

And it should actually be 6th time in 8 years had it not been for a 31-30 loss at Logan in 2016. The Bulldogs were 8 points (loss to Canal 21-14) from being 9-1 and a top 4 seed AGAIN.
