SEOAL demise: Good or bad for modern era former teams?

My first experience with the SEOAL began in the early '70's as a young Tiger fan before becoming a player. I lost touch with the SEOAL in th '80's but it seems to me that Ironton, Jackson, Athens, Gallipolis, Waverly and Logan continued their success outside the league. I know Logan has fallen on some hard times recently. I don't get much news on Meigs or Wellston so I can't speak for them. I miss the old rivalries from the SEOAL between the teams and fans but I sure do not miss the travel.

Athens, Meigs (plus Middleport and Pomeroy), Nelsonville-York (and Nelsonville), and Wellston combine for 29 titles.

Does Athens even have 500 games played? 4 charter members are in the TVC. The SEOAL area is all TVC now. Heck Wellston created the league and Athens kept the league together for 80 years since all roads go through Athens

Anyone think a few old Seoal teams ever get back together? I think if you could get 5 interested schools, it could happen. If I were Logan, I’d put all of my efforts into getting the band back together because they clearly are having trouble finding a home. I’d be on the phone with Warren, Marietta, Jackson, Pount Pleasant etc. I grew up in the TVC and always looked at the Seoal teams as a challenge when we played them. They were the bigger, better conference and the few times we could knock one of them off, it was even more special. Would love to see it back some day.

Rutland went into making Meigs but never was a SEOAL team of its own.

And Athens started the leagues down fall. Doesn't matter if others left. Athens was the first so they get credit for starting its down fall. Thanks guys for ruining a good thing.

Athens scrimmaged Gallia. It was a beat down. Jackson is too small to beat Athens. Athens beat Parkersburg South by 10. Probably should have beat them by a lot more. Parkersburg South beat Morgantown 35-7. Morgantown lost to Steubenville 21-17. Jackson lost to Western Brown. Western Brown lost to Clinton Massie 70-0. Clinton Massie cant beat Steubenville
