Waverly 41 Fairland 27

Post by smurray »

After suffering their first loss of the season to the Tigers of Ironton, Fairland travels north to the jungle in Waverly to take on the undefeated Tigers. Waverly answered their first true test of the season Friday night with a convincing 37-7 win at Unioto.
A close game was busted wide open in the 4th quarter as the Tigers ran away with it. Shanks grew up with his first real test as did many youngsters on the defensive side of the ball. Tigers getting great production out of some Freshman and Sophomores as well as great leadership from some key Juniors & Seniors.

Fairland comes in running the spread much like Waverly.
Will this be a high scoring afair? Which defense is better? What about special teams? Overall team speed?

Feel like it could be similar to the Athens game Fairland played, but Waverlys offense hasn't missed a beat in each game putting up loads of points and the defense has had a test now

Fairland's defense just isn't very strong and give up way to many points. Think you'll see #10 be the x-factor in this one in a big way. Won't be shocked to see Waverly push that 50 mark again and take this one by 4 scores.

If it's a dry field this should be a shootout. Waverly 35 - 28

Waverly's run defense got a test at Unioto with a steady dose of Carroll, this week our pass defense will be tested. I hear the Fairland QB is the real deal. I will take Waverly in a track meet against anyone on the schedule, especially at Radiger Field. Which defense comes up with more stops will win this one. And Waverly is starting to act like Virginia Tech on special teams, which could play a role.
I think the Tigers find a way at home by 2 TD's.

No school at Waverly today because of all the flooding. Not sure how that will affect the practice schedule. Lots of roads are closed.

Fairland brings to town the highest scoring offense Waverly has seen this season. The dragons are averaging over 33 points per contest. They have an excellent QB and nice receivers.

As of now the weather looks to be fantastic for the game. Should be no shortage of action in this one.

I would say Waverlys strength on defense is the secondary and the Tigers are very familiar with the offense Fairland runs.
Can Fairlands defense stop or slow down the high octane offense of Waverly?

Don’t see this game being close. I’ll take Waverly by at least 3 scores...

Hope everyone is healthy, haven’t heard an update after the Unioto game.
Hoping to get Zach Brown back soon, maybe a couple more weeks.

If waverly can play zone like ironton did Lambiotte struggled to complete passes vs the zone.

& he has absolutely no protection. One of the worst pass protecting lines I’ve seen at fairland in a while.

If their o-line cant pass protect they are in big trouble. Waverly will bring the heat and I doubt will need to play zone with the DB’s we have. Tigers have a couple top notch lock down corners and a couple safeties any team would want.

Ive heard you mention Zach Brown being out. Has he missed all 3 games so far? Does he play both ways, and what position does he play?

Brown was a starting O-lineman and starting LB. He has missed all three games. He sustained two separate preseason injuries a couple weeks apart, the most recent putting him out 4-6 weeks. Hopefully his healing process is coming along well.

Thank you for your response. Sounds like a very key player for you. Hopefully you don't need him for a couple more games. I know you would like to have him for the home stretch as you will have a couple key games late in the season plus the playoffs.

We are deeper this year so its been next man up at this point. Having him back for the second half of the season will help out as we do indeed have some crucial games coming up.....
