OHSAA Fall Sports Divisional Breakdowns Expected Thursday; Football Practice Start Date Adjusted
Official start date of football practice moved to Monday, July 31; new divisional alignments to include competitive balance roster data in football, volleyball and soccer

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio High School Athletic Association has announced an adjustment to the 2017 football season calendar, which moves the official start date for practice one day earlier, back to Monday, July 31. The original practice start date had been established as Tuesday, August 1, which matched the start date for all other OHSAA fall sports.

In addition, the OHSAA Board of Directors meets this Thursday for its regularly scheduled April meeting and will be presented with the new divisional breakdowns for all fall sports. For the first time, competitive balance roster data will be added to the base enrollment numbers in the fall sports of football, volleyball and soccer. Pending board approval, divisional breakdowns for all fall sports will be posted at OHSAA.org Thursday, including the school-by-school divisional assignment in the three fall sports affected by competitive balance.

In May 2014, OHSAA member schools voted in favor of the Competitive Balance Proposal, which affects baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball and volleyball by examining sport-specific roster data (grades 9-12) submitted by each school and could increase a school’s enrollment count. More information is posted at: http://www.ohsaa.org/School-Resources/C ... rce-Center

Winter sports divisional breakdowns will be presented to the board at its June meeting, while spring sports will be presented in August.

Just another way to water down D2 D4-D7. D3 and D1 are unreal. Welcome Kettering Alter and Archbishop Steubenville to the D3 catholic party

Lol the adjustment number for Central Catholic is almost what their original enrollment is - 235 original 220 adjustment; 455 final.

I'm just wondering why they're D3 when their final number is well into D2. They should switch them and Carroll (Dayton), who has 390.

D3 and D6 are stacked. Whoever takes those championships will have worked through it no doubt.

Hartley played in the SW Region when they were D4, maybe they will orient them there for D3 as well. When do they announce regions?

If they in Central/SE it will be a meat-grinder with them and DeSales and TV.

I just looked at D3, I assume the other divisions show similar trends.

Look at the competitive balance adjustment numbers, the size of the adjustments lol and the school the adjustment belongs to.

All those that last year argued Public School Open Enrollment = Private Schools can now take a seat please. The adjustments of the D3 privates are significant.

SVSM, CC, SFD, Watterson, etc,

I would think the state just might put Hartley and desales somehow in different regions.
They would try and match those two up for a state final game if possible.

If not the above is correct region 11 would be something.

D3 is loaded.
I'd say Hartley will be in DeSales region. The other region is already loaded with Kettering Alter and Trotwood Madison. D1 and D3 are very close to quality now.
