I think West will be solid this year. Hopefully someone will step up and become a difference maker on offense. We haven't had a gamebreaker for a while.

They should be loaded with juniors and seniors. These groups were dominant few yrs back

Watched a little bit of football camp. Looked like around 50 players. All classes in the high school are good classes. The senior class has lost a few over the years but still solid. Junior class is good. West has a very good coaching staff. If the injury bug stays away West will be a tough out this year.

I have heard the same thing the last couple years that this would be the year for West. The schedule should allow 8 wins for sure and possible playoffs.

Last year's senior class was the smallest and least talented as a whole in several years. Team competed well being young with a bunch of key injuries.

Rumor mill is Portsmouth is bringing them in from afar. Wheelersburg and Waverly will be good again. Fairland has 2 of the best players in the area. They always play West tough the first game.

If West stays healthy I think 8 wins is an achievable goal.

Waverly has nothing but respect for West; it's been earned over the years. They gave us all we wanted last year and it will be even more of a challenge going to their place this time round. I'm looking for West to have a real nice season.

This is the dark horse of southeastern Ohio. Probably the most physical team burg played last year! Look for west to be a real contender for the soc!

I second your thoughts on when Waverly and West play each other. A history stretching over 60 years of hard hitting football. The teams may not like each other, but there is grudging respect. As to 2017, the Senators(Siders?) are due for a good season.

Staying healthy and o-line play is going to be the key for West this year. They have been hit hard with injuries the last few years. They will be a tough out for sure this year.

Great for him. I knew his college coaches thought he would go into coaching. This is a form of coaching. Great role model for kids and adults. Where is this place?

I also watched the game and you are correct Gameday, they didn't hit very well. They looked like they were trying to hit with their hands. The O line stood up and didn't fire off ball. The backs were getting hit before they could get started. I watched these kids when they were freshmen and they would hit !!!!! Don't know what has happened but if they don't go back to hitting they will have a long year again. The first QB has a great arm and usually very accurate but looked off Friday. The second one looked very good running and only threw a cpl times but was on time and accurate. The 1st Qb wouldn't tuck the ball and run, when he did he would run forward 3 yards then backwards 5. They should win some games though.
