Re: 2017 Vinton County Vikings
Vinton County indeed will improve. Not being hurt by much from graduation, they did lose a key offensive lineman, but, return just about every skill guy, including Naylan Yates who is garnishing all kinds of DI attention.
After re-writing the record book last season, the Vikings should continue their assault on the record book and pile up numbers, through the air and on the ground. The question will be can they stop anyone?
Last year, the Vikings were very thin at the linebacker position, especially after Nevan Yates, broke his hand against Unioto. He missed several weeks and came back and played the last few weeks still in a cast. With a few new additions and the experience gained from last year, the linebackers should be very much improved. I expect big things out of the secondary, there will be a lot of athletes back there flying around and making plays.
I am looking forward to this season.

This could be a skies the limit kind of year for the Vikings.hawkeyepierce wrote:Vinton County indeed will improve. They definitely have a lot of talent, and if the defense does indeed step up I think they will surprise a few people.
Hope you go 9-1!

Is Downs the head coach again? If so, 6-4 at best. I'll leave it at that. Not a fan.

They always play Federal Hocking? Seems like its not a fit for both teams unless they are close to each other.

Both teams have a "bye" week in conference play that week. This year will be the final year of a 4 year deal between the two. To VC's credit, when this was scheduled, we were a regular 1-3 win team with no real direction. It was a good pick up at the time but now it's time to move on.

He needs to get "Jesty" back on the staff, or find someone else with a catchy name. We all know how guys with names like "Dutch", "Jesty", "Dusty", "Lukey", "Nut Buster", and "Pee Wee" can get kids to run through brick walls and all. But a name like Jeff Downs just isn't catchy enough.Steely Dan wrote:Is Downs the head coach again? If so, 6-4 at best. I'll leave it at that. Not a fan.
