You're kidding yourself on this one. They get both those teams at home. Burg is going to be really good this year.
Yes they will be good. Not dominate. And yes Waverly and West will both compete with Wheelersburg this year. Will they beat them probably not. But they will make it a game.

Those two weeks weren't blowouts and neither was Coshocton.

This is the SOC thread. Leave coshocton out of it. That's a game burg wasn't mentally prepared for. As far as this year, I'm giving burg the nod. While I think there are no blowouts, I see no reason why they should sweat. West is better, jury is out on Waverly with graduation but that coach has some excitement. I still see another year before valley and Minford make a threat.

Not mentally prepared for a regional final? Or just highly overrated?

Burg wasn't overrated, they picked the wrong time to play a terrible half. Burg should be proud of those kids the way they battled back after that first half

Four regionals in a row winning one out of four? How is that overrated? Burg is not an overrated team. Lol

Lol! BURG is best team in Southern Ohio and has been for a long time. Sorry Oak get over it and I'm guessing your an oak hill alum......the jealousy of the Burg....Sorry their is only one Wheelersburg and everyone can only wish they had the history and tradition of the Pirates. Btw I predict one of the blowout games will be against the mighty Oaks ;)

The last 3 years who have they beat? Ironton is terrible now. Valley, Minford and West have been down. Waverly hadn't shown a pulse for years till last year and they got waxed at home in the playoffs. Wheelersburg has been good lately, but Ironton, Valley, and West have all had runs of teams the last 10 years that would've been just as successful. Wheelersburg just timed it right. Until you fo something on the state level they're just another good team.

They've been to the regional level several times in the past several years. Look at the SOC titles. Burg program has become program everyone aspires to be here in southern Ohio. A year or two run means little. A Program is what happens year after year. Nobody close locally and doesn't appear will be in the next 5 years.

Wheelersburg is good. All programs' success will look like a sine wave. Better teams have higher peaks and flatter bottoms. Wheelersburg along with Ironton till about 5 years ago, has been the most consistent.

Have to agree with others, how they aligned the Regions was a big factor in the past and going forward. Several local teams had "State" competitive teams in the last 15 years that got knocked out by the Columbus Catholic schools of Hartley and Ready. Wheelersburg wasn't as good last year upfront on either side of the ball as they were the previous 3. JMO, but that wasn't a 10-0 or regional final quality of team most years, but more a product of very weak competition. I think this year's team will be similar. Good, not necessarily great.

I think West showed alot of promise competing like they did considering all the injuries they had last year. Berry was the 4th quarterback to play. Two of the better backs had season ending injuries before the season started. I think they will compete well with Wheelersburg this year.

I guess I have a hard time looking at what "great" means? I get it, they can't compete with the big boys but they have gotten there quite frequently and for around here that is great.
Burg has had one losing season in the last 25 years, maybe longer, and it was a 5-6 season. They have been good for a long time.

They are good for around here but I agree, they need to take the next step. This year, and I know only burg people will agree, burg will be as good if not better than they were last year overall.

Now that the opening weekend is nigh and the scrimmages are behind us, has any one changed their minds how the SOC2 will stack up for positions behind the Burg?

After 4 weeks the three W's stand at 12-0.
Fairland is glad they are done with the SOC2.

I think at this point its clear the SOC2 will go through Wheelersburg as both Waverly & West travel to Ed Miller Stadium.
Would love to see them all 5-0 as SOC play begins.

Both Burg and Waverly have tough road games this week. Both win able for them, but also tough opponents who can beat them too.
