why is Burg not on list of all time wins lost?

Post by 8332 Granite St »

http://www.ohsaa.org/sports/records/ftteam.htm#TMWA

Looking at the all time wins and lost records Burg is not included but if they was I count over 700 wins not including this year...which means they should be in the top 5 most in wins in state.
We need to get Burg added on the list but I think someone high up would have to submit it?
Any reason why were not on there or any thoughts?

Your AD has to submit it to OHSAA. Athens is over 500 and we are just over .500 for around 120 years

Anyone know Wheelersburg Ad? I think we should get recognized for are achievements. Top 5 in state is impressive. Ironton is at 13...of course they have prob played better opponents over time but it is what it is and they do hold more state titles.

Personally I'm shocked there's that wide of a gap between Ironton and wheelersburg. I had no idea wheelersburg has that many more wins then the Tigers. Would love to see the break down. Learn something everyday.

All the old schools should be on the list. Athens, Marietta, Zanesville, Chillicothe, Portsmouth, Ironton, Gallia, Jackson, and Logan

Athens has 445 wins since 1925

1911 4-3
1913 3-4-1
1914 4-3
1915 3-2
1916 3-2-1
1917 5-2-1
1918 1-0 influenza pandemic. Beat Jackson 39-0
1919 6-2
1920 7-0-1
1921 8-2 Loss to Middletown and Columbus Aquinas
1922 8-1-1 Loss to Huntington WV and tied Middletown
1923 7-3

That's 504 and I'm missing about 15 years

Sorry everyone lol....Burg would not be in top 5.
Double checked Burg has since 1956
470 Wins 173 loses and 6 ties (not counting the 12-1 2016 season )
With them stats they would be in top 60 range, but still should be on the list.

Jackson is on the list.

Won #600 last year week 10 against Gallia.

Won two more in playoffs and 6 this year. Currently stand at 608.

I'll have to make a trip to the library. Would OHSAA count games against college teams?

OAF CONSIDER ALL THOSE YEARS OF IRONTON'S SCHEDULE STRENGTH AND IT MAY HELP EXPLAIN THAT SOMEWHAT. THEY JUST PRETTY MUCH PLAYED THE TOUGHEST TEAMS THEY COULD FIND FOR MANY YEARS.

NOT TAKING ANYTHING FROM BURG'S WIN TOTAL AT ALL.

God bless Jottings, someone needs to teach him how to get on here. He's still on the previous version of the board.

I'm gonna guess Wheelersburg didn't play varsity football before 1956. That is right around the time most of the county schools started playing. I know Valley was 1958. I think Minford was 1959. So if that is how far back the program goes, I would bet that is the history of the team.
