Post by LICKING COUNTY FAN »

Last night I made my first trip ever to, Fleming Stadium, home of the Shadyside Tigers, Before the game I stopped by the big tailgate party being thrown, right beside the stadium. I wanted to first say that this stadium was well lit and in pretty good shape, for this time of the season. The P.A. system was very loud on the home side. The home crowd was very large and loud and the P.A. guy was one of the better ones, I have heard this season.

After seeing prep destroy Fairfield Christian last week, in the Cardinal division championship game(69-10) I was affair of how dangerous they could be and knew first hand, that they were not a one trick pony, as I heard many of the Shadyside fans say during the tailgate and while the teams were warming up.

Shadyside must have been frightened by the dangerous return guys from Harvest Prep because they opened up, with an inside type kick, that was recovered by Nick Tyree-Martin, on his own 44-yard-line. The Warriors would face a 4th and three to go at the 9:59 mark of the quarter and the opted to go for it. The play was pass from Jamal Lipsey and went to James McDowell moved the ball to the Tigers 44-yard-line and moved the chains. The Warriors known for being a very undisciplined team, though they have slowly begun to shake that reputation, would fall back into those bad habits, with three flags being thrown on them on the first drive. The Warriors, who last week had major problems with the snap from center to the punter again ran into that problem with 6:55 left in the quarter. A bad snap to the punter was recovered by Chase Wade, at the Warriors 33-yard-line.

The Tigers to 8-plays to go the 67-yards needed to score after the recovered fumble. The drive ended with a 14-yard pass from,William Johnson to a very talented,Chase Wade. Johnson would throw to #44Banco for a two-point conversion, to make this a,8-0 game,with4:05 left in the quarter.

Daniel(MR. 3,000) Bangura would give a glimpse of his skills, with a 20-yard run, with 3:48 showing on the clock. Just seven seconds later, Kelly Hendershot would pick off Warriors quarterback, Jamal Lipsey, Turnovers and penalties were taking a toll on Harvest Prep but their players seem to stay composed, for the most part. Later in the game the refs almost lost control of thins, and this allowed both teams to get chippy and some would say play dirty.

The clock showed :39, when Johnson was slung to the grass for a big loss by #75(NOT ON THE ROSTER) The result of this one made it a 3rd and 25 yards to go, for the Tigers. The Tigers came a cat whisker from getting another score, when Johnson found a wide-opened Colton Stutzman but the ball went off of his hands and fell to the grass, causing a loud moan from the large Tiger fans.

Savon Mitchell would take in a Lipsey pass, at the 7:12 mark of the quarter and not stop until, he had gone 81-yards for the score. A two-point conversion failed and the score remained,8-6 Tigers.

# 44 Banco Of the Tigers would be tackled by,Antwyan Reynolds, but not before he gained 39-yards, with 4:06 left in the half. The 7-play,73-yard drive ended on a 4-yard run by #44. Johnson would sprint in for two to convert another two-point try. The scoreboard read,16-6 Tigers, with 3:46 left in the half.

The last bigger play of the half came on a 29-yard run buy Lipsey, at the 2:23 mark.
The teams would go into the locker room, with the Tigers leading,16-6.

Johnson would be sacked by,Nijal Jackson, for a 4-yard loss, at the 8:39 mark of the third quarter.
With 8:06 left in the quarter the Tigers would go for it on 4th and four to go, and that turned into a really bad decision when Johnson was sacked and an unsportsmanlike penalty was called on the Tigers.

Bangura would gallop for a gain of 45 yards, with 7:47 left in the quarter. Bangura would end the 4 play,60-yard drive, with a 3-yard touchdown run, with 6:52 showing on the clock. Jose Garcia-Torres made this a,16-13 game, with his point after kick.

Johnson was sacked again, with 4:46 left in the quarter when, #5(NOT ON THE ROSTER) got to him for a two-yard-loss and forced a fourth and twelve to go.

Following the punt, the Warriors would go 68-yards on 6-plays for their next score. The score came on a 27-yard run by,Bangura. After the point after kick, the Warriors had a,20-16 lead, with 3:22 left in the quarter.

The Tigers answered back quickly. First a 38-yard pass from Johnson to #44 Banco got things started, with 2:26 left in the quarter. 1:14 later Johnson would cruise in from 5-yards out. The point after kick gave the Tigers a 23-20 lead, as the teams got ready for the final frame.

In a competitive game, one does not think they will see a 34 point outburst, but that is just what took place in this fourth quarter.
And one is seldom treated to a 50-yard long bomb being threw at the end of the game to give one team a huge win, and leaving the other stunned, but we all were treated to this too. This fourth quarter had a little bit of everything, a fan could ask for and a coach had nightmares about.

Just ten seconds into the final frame Nijal Jackson picked up a first down with a big run, when his team, the Warriors had been facing a fourth and six to go. The Warriors played loose in this one and in crucial times, this seem to raise their level of play. The 7-play, 66-yard drive ended on a sweet play, that saw Lipsey use a great fake to Bangura, and then take off on a fine 38-yard touchdown run. I believe the entire Tigers defense was fooled as were most of the fans sitting around me. #70 Richard Francis blocked the point after kick leaving this a,26-23 Warriors lead, with 11:21 left.

Johnson again found #44 Banco all alone for a 35-yard gain.#44 seemed to be forgotten many of times by the Warriors and each time he was used, he seemed to come up large. How did they, the Warriors not locate this kid as the Tigers came out of the huddle?
Facing a fourth and three to go, the Tigers got a Johnson pass to, you guessed it, #44 Banco for the first down, at the Warriors 15-yard-line. Johnson would end the 10-play,66-yard drive with a, 15-yard gut run, where he went untouched for the score. A bad snap caused the point after play to fail and the score stayed, 29-26 Tigers, with 7:12 left.

The Warriors methodically started their next drive, which started at their own11-yard-line as they had some major issues, with their kickoff return team. The Drive started with a completed pass and then five running plays before another pass. From there two more running plays to set up a big 40-yard catch and run. The pass from Lipsey, who showed when given just a hint of time, can be very dangerous with his arm. The pass was thrown to a wide-opened,6-6-255 pound Isaiah Mullens, who used a little move and then turned on the afterburners to easily out run to Tiger defenders. Lipsey ran in a two-point conversion, to give the Warriors a,34-29 lead.

If anyone doubted the will to succeed from either of these teams, this game, especially the final frame showed them all they needed to know.

The Tigers got a completed pass from Johnson to #44 Banco, who made a nice little run after the catch, before he fumble the ball, luck was on the side of the Tigers because #20 Gregory Quinn pounced on the ball, to give the Tigers a first and ten, at the Warriors 17-yard-line.
Johnson connected with Wade to give the Tigers a first and goal on the Warriors 3-yard-line, with 27.3 left in this exciting contest.
#44 would take it in from there, then after Johnson hit Wade for the two-point conversion, the Tigers had a37-34 lead, with 21.9 seconds left to play. The crowd and many of the Tiger players were celebrating as one would expect. But on the other side of the field, the Warriors coaches gathered their troops together and gave some words of encouragement.

The Warriors had the ball at midfield with time to run one final play. Lipsey took the snap scrambled a little and then moved to his left side, set his feet and looked downfield, his linemen was doing a great job of protecting him, his receiver Antwyan Reynolds, was running full speed for the end zone and had a couple of yards on both defenders trying to guard him. Lipsey let the ball go and it looked like a pass thrown by Troy Aikman and it dropped right into the hands of Reynolds, setting off an explosion from the smallish size Warriors crowd and a quiet storm on the home side.
