Longest Bus Trips for Playoffs

Post by bbn77 »

In Region 23, Barnesville makes the longest trip to Chesapeake (3 hours 6 minutes, 199.4 miles). What are some other long trips in other regions?

A few years ago Chesapeake played at #1 St Clairsville. three hour fifteen minute drive and over 200 miles. Only lost by 3. It's a coach's responsibility on these trips to make sure the team stays prepared and focused

The OHSAA could definitely do better at assigning teams from D2 to D7 to the appropriate region. Ohio is not exactly a large state, about 210 mi. wide & 250 mi. from southern most pt. to Lake Erie. With 4 regions in each division a week 11 bus trip should be no more than 130 miles tops.

I agree but it's still better than West Virginia where there's no regional separation. Point Pleasant traveled to Musselman for a game last year and the trip was five hours

It's all about the size and the numbers. If you are going to have 7 divisions and accept 32 teams from each then the East and Southeast will have a good amount of travel.

if East or Notre Dame have to travel to Shadyside that would be a 3 hour and 40 minute drive.

We weren't the ones traveling, but Jeromsville Hillsdale traveled about 170 miles to Oak Hill in 2012.

Yep! Obviously you're aware where Point is, Musselman is on the eastern tip of WV on the panhandle. Have family there and the drive is a drag

The 1979 Ironton Tigers traveled over 3 hours to play Akron St. V. St. Mary in the Akron Rubber Bowl. A place they had a played few times during their regular season. We won 7-6 for the Class AA State title. Don't fret the trip. The mission and goal is what matters.

Germantown is about 107 miles to Waverly. Probably a two hour drive by bus.

Longest I've noticed this year

Ridgewood to Wheelersburg

Ironton to Coshocton (funny thing about these two games. Coshocton and Ridgewood are about 10 minutes away from each other, and Burg/Ironton are about 20. Ironton and Ridgewood will be making 3+ hour bus rides.)

Danville to Sciotoville Community

Barnesville to Chesapeake

1 long trip isn't that bad. They will be closer for most teams in the 2nd round . They have title games in Columbus for 1 more year so that will make people happy that don't want to go to canton.
I bet tri valley would gladly take a 3 hour trip.
