USING ROSTERS FROM MAXPREPS AND HUDL.COM

Last night I made my third trip over to Muskingum College to watch John Glenn play. In the two previous games they had posted wins and I was expecting to see the same thing happen on this night, against an Crooksville team that had struggled all season long.

On the games first offensive play,Matthew Stewart busted free for a 52-yard gain, bringing the John Glenn fans to their feet. The kid made the run look easy, made so in a large part by his offensive line and his own field vision.

The 5-play,80-yard drive came to an end, with a 12-yard touchdown catch by,#2 Jake Radcliffe. The pass by Stewart was right where he needed it to be. The point after kick by, #7 Score Perkins, made this a,7-0 game, with 10:15 remaining in the opening quarter.

At the 9:26 mark it was the John Glenn defense, making its mark on the game, when #11 Matt Leonard picked off a Landon Hinkle pass, giving the Little Muskies a first and goal from the ten.

The Little Muskies only used two plays to score after the interception. The scoring play was a 7-yard catch and run by, Gavin Thompson. The point after increased the Little Muskies lead to,14-0, with 8:50 left in the one-sided opening quarter.

The John Glenn defense looked like the old doomsday defense of the Dallas Cowboys for much of this game especially early on. After they made the pick on the Crooksville last drive, they would easily shut the Ceramics offense down again and force a punt.

On the ensuing drive John Glenn needed, 8-plays to go 52-yards for their next score. The scoring play was a 1-yard run by, Stewart. The point after kick was good, and the score ballooned to,21-0, with 4:34 still left in the opening quarter.

Caden Miller would take the ensuing kickoff all the way to the John Glenn 36-yard line, with 4:26 left in the quarter. The Ceramics offense would run 11-plays but total just 24-yards before heading back to the sideline, still scoreless. A big play in the series was on third down, needing just four yards for a first down, Hine slipped and fell and lost 8-yards on the play, with 11:45 left in the half.

With 9:07 showing on the clock #60 Kenny Wood and #42 Walker Harris stopped Stewart for no gain. The play did seem to show a tad bit of life, from a defense that had not shown up in this one much at all.

The Little Muskies recovered from the nice defensive play, as they slowly swam downfield. The slow swim would end with a 6-yard run by Stewart, who used a nice little move around the 2-yard line to get into the end zone. The point after kick increased the lead to,28-0, with 7:06 left in the half.

After the defense again held the Crooksville offense to nothing, the John Glenn offense went back to work. A 56-yard pass from Stewart to #10 Ben Larson got the drive started.

Facing a 4th and six, with 4:48 left in the half, at the Crooksville 23-yard-line, The Little Muskies opted to go for it and that decision turned into anther touchdown, when #13 Gavin Thompson hauled in a Stewart pass. He would use several Barry Sanders like move to score. The point after was good again to increase the lead to,35-0.

Stewart and the Little Muskies offense was back at it again, with 1:20 left in the half. A 51-yard pass to#28 Shane Bonner got things going. The drive, a 2-play,58-yarder ended on a 7-yard Bonner run, with 1:13 showing on the clock. The point after was good to make the score,42-0.

The half came to a close with #54 Collin Mathers getting to Hinkle, for a loss of 4-yards.

For the half Crooksville unofficially had a total of50-yards, while John Glenn totaled 343.

The third quarter had 10:48 left when Bonner picked off a Hinkle pass and took it about 40-yards to the house, fot another Little Muskies score. The point after was good again and the scoreboard now reads,49-0.

The little Muskies got two nice runs by, Stewart to get things rolling again. The first one was for a 15-yard gain, on a nice scramble and the 2nd one was a 140yard pick up. Then with 5:23 left in the quarter, a 63-yard sprint by Bonner ended the drive. The point after was good to make this a,56-0 game.

Hinkle would be stopped by #21 Nick Meinert for no gain. Hinkle had all kinds of problem trying to run or throw the ball all game long. A large part the talented player struggle so much was the Little Muskies defensive line and linebackers played a very good game. After this play the quarter was down to 4:26. Hinkle would find a little opening with 3:04 left in the quarter and he took off for a long 64-yard gain. With :24 left in the period Hinke was stopped way short of the first down marker as the John Glenn defense seemed to know, who was going to run the ball and where he was headed.

Crooksville had three good things happen in the final frame as they showed no quit in this one, even though the game had been settled, way back in the opening minutes.

With 5:05 left,Hinkle connected with Miller, for a 36-yard score. The point after by #35 Chip Russell, was called no good by the P.A. Announcer, but the refs signaled good. The scoreboard read,56-7.

At the 3:10 mark of the final stanza, #13 Tyler Rambo got an interception for the Crooksville defense.

The games final touchdown came with 2:01 left. The scoring play was anther Hinkle to Miller score, this one from 29-yards out. Miller used some shifty moves to score. The point after made the final,56-14.
