This was game one of two at Welcome stadium and it pitted two Dayton high schools against each other. Meadowdale, who entered 2-6, on a three game losing streak. A streak that had seen them outscored, 122-0. Thurgood Marshall came into this one,3-5 and winners of two of their last three. In those three games they had outscored their opponents, 90-48. This one did not promise to be much of a game if one looked at the last few games played by each team. Overall, at least record wise it had a slim chance to be a good one.
The game opened up with # 10 from Thurgood Marshall (Not on the roster)getting a pick at the Meadowdale thirty-three-yard-line.

Facing a third and thirteen, with 7:28 left in the game, Jordan Watts took the ball all the way to the Lions thirty-two-yard line and gave the Cougars another first down. The clock showed 6:26 left and once again the Cougars were facing another fourth down and needed five-yards to move the chains.
