Athens is 50/50 pass vs run

NY is 110% run
If NY has to pass the game is over. They are a run first, run second, and if they can't run it they'll try throwing it type of team.
The Buckeyes can throw the ball, they just haven't really needed to. I don't think they will need to much on Friday either.
Yes they can throw it. But completing it is an issue. They will be best to stick to the running game. If they have to pass it they are in trouble.

And Athens starting QB is at WR now

NY averages 319 yards a game on the ground and 109 through the air.
3 of the 6 picks that Edwards has thrown were in week 1.
NY will go to the Air when/if they need or want to.

They needed to go to the air against NC, and LC. Also the first half against Logan. That didn't work out for them. As I said, when/if they actually have to pass the ball they are in trouble. But the ground game has been good for them, so as you said they haven't had to pass except in the above games. It's much easier to pass when you are gashing them on the ground.

The passing game has gotten better since weeks 2 and 3.
I think the emotions of losing Coach and several mistakes (wr lining up offsides multiple times and other needless penalties) contributed to the slow start against Logan.

Yes the passing game has gotten better as the opponents have gotten worse. As I said, when you are running the ball up and down the field, then throw a short pass in there it is much easier to complete than if you have to pass. I guess we'll see if/when they actually have to pass. So far when they've had to pass it hasn't worked out very well for them.

The question is, is Athens capable of stopping the run?

And that's the bottom line, b/c Stone Cold said so....

No! NY will run the ball all night. Athens' only hope is to out score them, and with the defense NY has been playing that will be tough to do. Good luck to both teams and stay healthy for the post season for the winner.

All I'm gonna say is I personally didn't think we were that good in the beginning of season. Nelsonville-York has improved tremendously now that coach Richards system is starting to fall into place. It took some time for NY to put everything together.

But I will say this. If people want to think NY struggles in the passing game or they will be in trouble if they have to go to the pass against Athens. It is a mistake. NY can and will successfully throw the ball against Athens and anyone else they play.

I will say NY is the better team on paper but
2009 Athens was better than 2009 NY and 2010 NY was better than 2010 Athens. Both 1 point games
