Concussion Awareness Program 10-23-16

Post by football2016 »

This Sunday, October 23, 2016 there will be a Concussion Awareness Program at Meigs High School's Larry R. Morrison gymnasium beginning at 2pm. Dr. Kelly Roush, of Holzer Clinic Sports Medicine, will be the lead presenter in a program geared towards players, coaches, trainers and parents. Dr. Roush has been at the forefront of sports medicine in Southeast Ohio and has written a book on Concussion Awareness. She has also been an advocate of student athletes in southeastern Ohio and western West Virginia. Please feel free to attend the program and pass the word. If any student athletes plan to attend, Dr. Roush has asked that they wear their jersey.

There will also be a short memorial service as this year marks the 20th anniversary of the passing of Matt Ault, who was a Meigs High School football player who passed away in 1996 after collapsing outside the locker room following a Meigs High School/Waverly High School football game. Mike Chancey, former Meigs HS head coach at the time of Matt's passing and currently coach of the Southern Tornadoes, as well as Chad Dodson, close friend of Matt's, will speak at the program.

*I will try to link the Daily Sentinel article from this weeks newspaper to this forum in a few minutes. Hope to see a great turnout at the event!!
