Region 16

Very tough region. How does it play out for Waverly if they win out? They are currently 5th following their loss to Wheelersburg.
Tigers need one of the top 4 to stumble to host a first round game - provided they win out.

Massie plays 6-1 Chillicothe and 6-1 Wilmington.
Wyoming and Valleyview look to have the easiest schedule remaining of the top 4.

I think there's A LOT to be played out for Waverly in this one. If Waverly can win out they should get quality points from both Minford and River Valley. I think River Valley could be big here as they take on a DIII, Vinton County squad this week. I don't see them beating Athens and for Waverly can't afford a loss to them so that is a good game for Waverly to pay attention to. Kettering Alter I don't know if they can maintain their lead over Waverly given the opponents they've beaten and their records. I think the #7 seed Dunbar with their games against #8 Taft and a DIII opponent in Belmont could surprise as Belmont will probably go into that game 7-2. There's a lot of moving around yet. Looks like though Wyoming will go 10-0 top 4, Valley View 9-1 top 4, Clinton Massie right now playing some really good ball and 2 tough opponents that are DIII could easily jump into the #1 spot if they win both, but if they split those games I think that's enough to keep them in the top 4 as well. I don't think there's enough there for Indian Hill to jump them. Really looking at Kettering and Dunbar as the 2 teams who could lock in that 4 spot over Waverly. I think Waverly has the inside track at jumping Kettering for the #4 spot before seasons end. With Dunbar taking on 2--DIII schools and if Belmont is 7-2 going into that game points could be there for Dunbar. However, there's a rather large gap between Waverly and them. It'll be interesting given the games and teams Waverly has left I think it's very feasible for them to get that #4 spot don't see them jumping into top 3 unless Clinton Massie would lose to both Chillicothe and Wilmington.

R16 is probably the deepest of the four regions for Division IV. Alter is solid as usual and Germantown Valley View is pretty good. Clinton-Massie is pretty tough as usual as well. Cincinnati Wyoming has been on fire this season, the Cowboys are led by QB Andy Marty who has committed to Northwestern. Indian Hill is also pretty good.

I think Waverly can hold their own with Indian Hill and maybe Valley View, but CM, Alter, and Wyoming could be tall tasks if they draw them in round 2.

See I think they can hold their own with anyone in that region on a given night. I do believe in order for them to take down Valley View, Clinton Massie and Wyoming they have to play a perfect game and need those teams to commit 2-3 turnovers hurt themselves with penalties. I do believe they're looking at facing an Alter or Indian Hill in round 1 and I think it'll be a home game. This is an extremely tough region one that for Waverly to come out of will have to have the stars aligned for. If they can put forth the defensive effort they did against Burg in the 2nd half for an entire 4 quarters they will be a tough out. Have to find offense on a consistent basis though getting to playoffs and simply relying on the big play I don't think is enough. Come playoff time teams limit the big play and make you drive the ball down the field and you have to play error free football on offense in those cases. Right now we've all seen Waverly hit the big play, against Burg their 2 Tds both 50+ but can they drive it the length of the field that is my question and that is what will determine how they handle this region. Because the defenses in this region especially those top teams are NO JOKE.

The turnaround for Waverly in one years time is remarkable. The Tigers were one play away from arguably beating the best team in southeast Ohio, at least from taking the lead early in the 4th after dominating the 3rd period.
I agree, this is a very strong region and we're hoping everything plays out for Tigers to host a first round game.
Waverly CANNOT have a letdown from the Wheelersburg loss and shouldn't. They should know they just proved they are a pretty good football TEAM.
Tigers have to take each opponent seriously the next three weeks and take care of business.

What kind of a chance do you think the tanks get the 8 spot. I agree that Dunbar beats Taft. Will thAt loss drop Taft out of the playoffs assuming that unioto wins out?

Indian Hill gave up a TD and 2pt conversion to Wyoming that forced overtime in their loss to Wyoming. Indian Hill is no joke, led by 6'5, 235 lb QB Reed Aicholtz and his 5'10, 175lb twin brother at WR (that's not a typo, it's kind of hilarious to see the difference)

Unioto needs some help and to win out. The top 6 are pretty much locks in the playoffs, but those last 2 spots are up for grabs, although I think they will go to Dunbar and Taft. It would be nice for the Shermans to get in, but I'm not sure that they will be able to jump either school.

Dunbar plays Taft. With a loss Taft could be on the outside looking in. Dunbar is in with a win over Taft. If the tanks win out I feel like they get in. If vinton county can win 2 out of three that would be huge for the tanks.

I think for Unioto they have to have Taft lose to Dunbar. Obviously they need to win out. Dayton Chaminade needs to lose in week 10 to Kettering Alter as there will be quite a few points for them to get if they pull off the win. Not saying they will but if Logan Elm could win out is the other team who could get that 8 spot. Logan Elm takes on a DIII and DII in weeks 9-10 and 2 of their 3 remaining opponents have winning records. Think that 8th spot will come down to 4 teams, Taft, Unioto, Dayton Chaminade (only if they beat Alter), and Logan Elm. I like Unioto's chances to slip in there as I think they'll win out, but they definitely need help to secure the 8th seed.

The way I see it, the 7 and 8 spots will go to Dunbar Taft or unioto. Logan elm and cj will probably not win another game. Cj beating alter is laughable. If Taft beats Dunbar they are in if Dunbar beats Taft and loses in week 10 they still get in unioto would have a chance at 7 if they get help. Unioto has to win out for sure. Most likely is Dunbar at 7 and unioto at 8. If Taft beats Dunbar then Dunbar loses week 10 unioto still gets in at 8. If Taft beats Dunbar and Dunbar wins week 10 unioto is out.

Unioto HAS to win out, Dunbar HAS to beat Taft and Dayton Chaminade can't pull off the upset against Alter. Those 3 things happen and I think they get in.

As far as unioto, Taft, and Dunbar they all need 8-2. Cj is out, I have seen alter and cj this year alter jv can play with cj. Imo Dunbar is better than Taft but they have a tuff rival game week 10. Unioto has a huge game against piketon. Everything will fall in place for the tanks. Big question is can they win out? It won't be easy. If they get in they have to hope massie isn't the one seed but I think they will be. But if they can get in it would really be great for the program regardless of what happens after that.
