Portsmouth 45 Gallia Academy 14

Post by TrojanXplosion »

Thoughts? I don't know much about the Blue Devils but, if the Trojans build off of the 2nd half performance against Rock Hill, I see Portsmouth moving to 4-1.

I know it's not a huge deal to other programs but for the young Trojans to be in this position, it's a true testament to the new culture. It would go along way to boost the program to get to the playoffs this year. It's been almost ten years. No excuse with all the talent they've had in this time frame. Duncan is righting the wrongs.

Wish this game was in Gallipolis. Always enjoy the drive up there. Especially when this game is later in the year.

Portsmouth will win this by 4 or more touchdowns.

With all the historians in Portsmouth and Gallipolis, does anyone have all time records between these two schools?

I can put them up tonite unless someone beats me to it. I think Gallia leads the series.

Trojans go to 4-1, but they won't get many if any secondary points from GA wins this year. Could be an o-fer season for the Blue Devils.

Congrats to Portsmouth, look to have a very real chance at making it to the play-offs this year. Trojans look to be headed in right direction after a long dry spell.

I don't make game by game predictions, but I very much like the direction that Coach Duncan and his staff have the football program going. The Trojans should be coming into this game with a lot of confidence after the epic comeback vs. Rock Hill.

As far as the overall series, I don't have the all time standings but I do know that Gallia Academy has dominated the Trojans over the last 15 years. They won at Portsmouth 28-14 in the 2002 season, in which the Trojans made the playoffs that year, losing to Portsmouth West at Ironton after beating the Senators in the regular season.

GO TROJANS!!!

Biggest second half effort I've seen in years out of the Trojans. I hate to look ahead but weeks 6&7 will determine how strong we are. Go Trojans

Best second half effort I've seen since being down 21-0 to Jackson at half, I believe 2010. Lost that game on a long field goal as time expired, 28-27. That game left Portsmouth out of the playoffs.

The biggest difference I see with this Trojan team is all around effort. Guys seem more fired up than they've been in years. Winning certainly helps build the fire. Just hope they can stay healthy and limit turnovers. I truly feel they can win any game left on the schedule. Chesapeake and Coal Grove may be talented but, they are not Wheelersburg. Portsmouth can have success against both of those schools. One game at a time, leave no doubt.

Even more than just being down, the injury bug hit the Devils pretty hard last week. Several kids out for season. Not flaky injuries either, legitimate surgery needing injuries. Its like pouring salt in the wound at this point. As my username state, I'll bleed blue forever, but right now is a very trying time for GA football. Fans, players, and I'm sure coaches too are feeling the frustration about now.

Trojans should take this game easily. I only hope for an injury free game for both sides.

We've been there brother, I'm guessing the last 10 years were about the worst in Trojan history, if we go .500 the rest of the year it will only be our 3rd winning season UN the last 10 years.
