GAME REPORT:Brookville 41 Carlisle Indians 00

Post by LICKING COUNTY FAN »

Last Night at Brookville high school the home team Blue Devils battled the Indians from Carlisle high school.
Brookville entered the number one seed, while the Indians came in the number eight seed.

Early on, this was a very good game with Brookville leading,7-0 after one quarter.
It took the Blue Devils a little while to get their high octane running offense going, but after they did, this one became one-side very quickly. The Blue Devils offensive line over powered the defensive line of the Indians all game long, and did so more and more as the game went on.

The Indians faced fourth and inches, with 9:21 showing on the first quarter clock and they elected to go for it, but an illegal procedure called changed that, and they punted the ball away.

Brookville did nothing the first time they had the ball as the Indians defense had the juices flowing and their emotions were sky high.
The second time the Blue Devils offense took the field, it was a total different story.

4:25 was left in the opening quarter when Justin Heck 6-2 / 195 picked up a first down on a six yard run.
Eighteen seconds later Bailey Wallen 5-10 / 191 checked in with a twelve yard run to move the chains.
At the 3:34 mark of the quarter it was,Austin Delk 5-11 / 174 moving the chains on a fifteen yard run. At the point the offensive line for the Blue Devils had shaken its slow start and starting doing as they pleased and the results were big runs for all of the ball carriers.
Wallen would break off a twenty one yard touchdown run, in a large part because of the work the big fellows up front did. The point after kick was successful by,Connor Chase 6-1 / 180, on the hold by Heck.
7-0 with 1:53 left in the quarter.
The drive went for eighty yards and took nine plays all were on the ground.

With 20.3 seconds left in the quarter Harry Hall 6-2 / 210 picked off a pass thrown by Indians quarterback Adam Goodpaster 6-0 / 160. Hall return the pick all the way to the Indians sixteen yard line.

It would take only three plays for the Blue Devils to score again, after the pick. The score came on a twenty three yard scamper by,Wallen. The point after kick made this a,14-0 game with 11:34 left in the half.

The Carlisle defense got a nice play from Nick Moore 6-2 / 220, when he got to Heck, for a short loss, with 7:27 left in the quarter.
A forty six yard touchdown catch by Hall appeared to give the Blue Devils a,20-0, lead but a block in the back took the score off of the board, with 6:58 left.
Four seconds later Austin Delk 5-11 / 174, took the ball to the Indians eight.
Then at the 6:28 mark Hall made it a,20-0 game with a nine yard score. The point after kick was missed and the score stayed,20-0 Blue Devils. The drive lasted six plays and went for seventy three yards.

The Brookville defense got a nice play from,Cameren Alber 6-5 / 186 when he got to Goodpaster for a four yard loss, with 5:57 left in the half.

The Blue Devils shocked the Indians with 2:10 left in the half, when Heck found Austin Delk 5-11 / 174 for a thirty one yard gain all the way down to the Indians seven yard line. This was one of eight passed the Blue Devils would throw on the night.

The scored went to,27-0 with 49.2 left in the quarter when, Hall plunged in from two yards out. This drive totaled sixty yards and took six plays.

It would be the Blue Devils defense coming up big with :30 left in the half, with Kyle Wheat 5-11 / 220 sacking Goodpaster, for a four yard loss.

The Brookville defense unofficially gave up a total of fifty four yards on twenty five plays.
This was a very impressive showing by any standards.
The Carlisle offense threw nine passes in the half completing four of them.

There was no scoring in the third as the defenses both stood tall.
At the 9:27 mark of the quarter, #3 of the Indians(not on either roster I am usuing) picked off a Heck, pass near the goal line and returned it to the Brookville thirty three.

With 9:11 left on the clock Goodpaster scrambled to his right and before having a chance to throw the ball away Tyler Horstman 5-11 / 185 pushed the quarterback out of bounds for a loss of nine. Then with 8:47 left on the clock, Goodpaster was sacked by Trevor Good 5-11 / 215 and Hall 6-2 / 210, for a five yard loss. The Brookville defense was bound and determine to keep the shutout going, even after the pick and nice return.

Carlisle would turn the ball over on downs when,Dylan Hensley 5-10 / 191 broke up a pass intended for Dominic Sallee 5-11 / 180, with 2:56 left.

With ten minutes left in the one-sided affair, Kyle Wheat 5-11 / 220 sacked Goodpaster for a short loss to force another Indians punt.

7:05 remained in the game Heck picked up twenty four yards on a nice run.
At the 5:19 mark it would be Hall dancing in from a yard out. The point after made this a,34-0 game.

The final score came on a one hundred yard pick six by the Blue Devils,Michael Lander with 1:24 left in the game. I believe the hundred yard was announced by the P.A. guy but it was hard to hear from the visitors side, where I set because the home side was so crowded when I got there ninety minutes before kickoff. The point after made the final score, 41-0 Brookville.
