This game has been very close the last few years and I don't see that changing this year! I'll give the edge to Southern since it's in Racine.

side note- Head Coaching match up of two former Meigs QB's who both earned Div. 1 Scholarship's for football; Chancey (Ohio State) Ashley (Utah). (Also very close friends)

Also both coach's fathers were head football coach's at Meigs.

Notre Dame will have to find a way to control the line. Last year they had trouble with Racine's big guys up front, but managed to pick up some long yardage carries outside to try and offset it. It all came down to 1 yard to score the game winning touchdown and was stopped.

The Good - Notre Dame returns the majority of their starters, QB/RB/WR's, including the conference back-of-the-year.
The Bad - Numbers, just like every year, the Titans return a large group of starters, but continue with small numbers each year. (limits subs and practice week preparation)
The Ugly - A long drive to Southern...

My prediction - Titans 38, Southern 28

Mr. Ashley was never the head coach at Meigs

Bob Ashley was Head Coach for one year.

You are right and not the first time I've been wrong. Hard to remember the couple in there over schools history with as long as the Chancey's ran it.

I believe it was...
Charles Chancey (20 some years)
Bob Ashley (1 year)
Charles Chancey (1 year)
???? Staggs (4 years)
Mike Chancey (19 years)
Mike Bartrum (4 years and going)

I think Bob Ashley went 10-0 or 9-1 in his one year.

Southern beat Beaver Eastern 19-14 in varsity action last night and Portsmouth Notre Dame beat Valley 14-0.

This one is shaping up to be a good game

Thanks for clarifying, I was confused why someone said Southern in another thread then another says Meigs here.

Well it's that time! Friday Night Lights are back! Hard to believe this week begins another journey for teams.

Notre Dame has something to prove and looking to avenge their loss with coming up a yard short of winning.

Ready for Friday!

From what I've heard, ND has some good skilled kids and a fairly big, athletic line. I know Southern returns a bunch of skilled kids, how is their line looking? Pretty much every game is won or lost in the trenches.
