Doing away with the kick off would take away a big part of come backs. They would have to come up with something to replace the on side kick?????????????

I don't know about kickoffs but I'd be fine with taking away the extra point. Just make everyone go for 2.

No reason to take away the kickoff in H.S.

It's the most flagged play in football.
It's usuallya let down because when a good return happens you know the laundry will start flying lol

This year brings to the Ivy League kick-offs from the 40 yd. line. Onside still in use but touchbacks will increase. Other conferences may follow.

Didn't the Ivy League just out law all tackling from practices ? Things are getting crazy! Man just keeps getting softer

Agree, specially the start of the game. Football wouldn't be the same with out kick offs. It is crazy. Rule makers will ruin it all someday. Man just keeps getting softer.

Tell the Liberals at the National Federation or the OHSAA that kick offs contribute to global warming and it will be gone next week !

I can see it now,
Down by 9 You score with less than a minute to play and make extra point to be down by 2,
Instead of a on side kick attempt, you must play defense at the other teams 30.
having no way to possible comeback for win.

How about in last 2 minutes instead of no chance of a onside attempt, just flip a coin, head kicking team recovers at 50, tails receiving team recovers at 50. Sounds as stupid as NO Kickoffs

Well, if the game doesn't address the safety of players, there will be no game. And if you didn't realize, the IVY League policy is similar to that of the NFL. And the last change to Kick-offs has led to in increase in touch backs and drastically has decreased the injury rate on the most dangerous play in football.

That's why I said man keeps getting softer in football because it's going through all levels now, don't know what other college's are doing but I am sure they will follow suit eventually.High School started limiting their tackling in practice last year.Problem is it might cause more injuries in the games themselves if they outlaw all tackling from players not being conditioned for it.I hope not but we will see.The NFL players have some the worst tackling techniques now days and I hope that's not the reason, they love to duck their head down then spear in and alligator arm it.Vince Lombardi would roll over in his grave watching this NFL tackling now days. There have always been a few players use that technique but not as widespread as it is now.

Players are much bigger today than back in the day. Two trucks hitting each other hurts far more than two cars at the same speed

Kickoffs are a huge part of the game. A kicker that can put the ball in the end zone is a huge weapon. Most teams seem to kick it to the 10-15 and its returned to the 35-45 yard line.

This is "FOOT" Ball. Keep the kickers. It is the most exciting part of the game!

Yes they are bigger but most of them can't even play on the kick offs because they are so far out of shape they couldn't even run to the lunch line and get a second lunch.
