Post by LICKING COUNTY FAN »

This was my third time watching the Hornets this season, in the two previous games they had a loss to a very good Hamilton Township team and an easy win against division six Newark Catholic. Tonight the Hornets looked every part of a championship team, as they pounded the Panthers,35-7.

The Hornets lighting quick offense flashed their speed just 2:04 into the game, when #6 Joey Harrell out ran the Panthers defense for a 81-yard touchdown The point after kick by,Cameron Christian gave the Hornets an early,7-0 lead.

After stuffing the Panthers offense on its first drive, the Hornets forced would get a 54-yard punt return for another touchdown by,Nate Thacker. The point after kick made this a,14-0 game, with 6:22 left in the opening quarter.

The Panthers finally had a nice drive started and when it appeared they might get on the scoreboard Jake Lewis threw into tight coverage in the end zone and making the big pick for the Hornets was,Cameron Malicoate, with 41.4 seconds left in the quarter.

The Panthers defense got a big stop on a 4th and 1 play, when Josh Montgomery stuffed London Pearson for a short loss, with 10:22 left in the second quarter.

The Panthers put another nice drive together and this time, the Panthers would find pay dirt when,Jake Lewis scored on a five yard run. The point after by Elijah Brechbill cut he Hornets in half,14-7 with 8:22 left in the half.

The Hornets would get a nice 12-yard run by Keshawn Moore, with 7:17 left on the clock.
A 22-yard pass play to Nate Thacker from quarterback Gabe Caldwell with 6:56 left kept the drive alive.
The drive ended when Adrien Hammonds was kept out of the end zone, on a 4th and 1 play.

The Hornets lit up the scoreboard again with 2:48 left in the half, when Caldwell hit Pearson for a thirty yard score. The point after gave the Hornets a,21-7 lead.

The first half came to a close after Christian just missed a 31-yard field goal.

The Hornets special team came up huge when Malicoate recovered the 2nd half kickoff.
Licking Heights needed just four plays to score again to make this a, 28-7 games. Scoring for the Hornets this time Moore was on a six yard run, with 10:17 left in the third.

The Hornets offense was poised to score again, but with 5:10 left in the third Pearson mishandled a toss from his quarterback, the Panthers Elijah Brechbill pounced on the ball at the Panthers twenty.

With 3:50 left in the quarter La Kelly sacked the Panthers quarterback causing a fumble and making the recovery for the Hornets was,Quintin Payton.

The Hornets offense would score again, this time it was a 10 yard catch by,Maurice Edmondson, then after the point after kick was good the Hornets had a,35-7 lead, with 3:05 left in the third.

With 14.5 seconds left in the quarter, Lewis was sacked Chance Canady and Tosh Hayes for a short loss.

There would be no scoring in the final frame, but there were a few notable plays
With 11:45 left in the game, Caldwell found Nate Thacker on a 19-yard gain over the middle.

The Panthers looked to have a big first down, with 10:13 left in the game, but Moore caused a fumble after a Panthers pass was completed and he also would come away with the ball.

With 8:43 left in the game it would be Jordan Coulter getting to Zack Hatfield for a three yard loss. This was another case of the Hornets defense coming up huge in this one.

Hayes would have two really good plays with a couple of minutes left in the game.
The first play was Hayes stuffing out a running on fourth and short for the Panthers, and this caused another Hornet punt. The final play was Hayes getting to Lewis for a five yard loss.
