Week 3 should give a little more insight to where every team stands.

For starters, Ironton & Fairland square off in the first conference game of the year.
Also, Rock Hill will host Oak Hill. Chesapeake beat Oak Hill 40-14 in Oak Hill.
Coal Grove will visit Portsmouth West. Fairland lost to the Senators 20-26 in Week 1

Week 3 seems to be when a lot of teams find their identity.

Exactly,
I think Ironton has played two pretty good teams. Much better than anyone else in the OVC.

Oak Hill isn't a slouch either. Neither games have even been close

WHEELERSBURG DEFINATELY. RUSSELL MAYBE. I THINK THE PARITY IN THE OVC IS REALLY GOING TO BE RIGHT UP THERE THIS YEAR.

Come on they are going to be 0-3 after playing RH. The problem is the OVC is not beating any quality teams at this time. I still say only time will tell how good the OVC is this year.

I'd like to see them play someone else first. Coming in to the year Fairland was going to be a bottom feeder in the conference. Ironton will definitely compete though

JMO. Chesapeake is the team to beat in the OVC. Closely followed by The kittens, squaws, and the sweat bees....after watching The prophylactics tonight, they are just not physical enough....

OVC Record against non conf schedule

Soc 1 4-0
Soc 2 5-4 (Still 1 game to go between the conferences)
TVC Ohio 1-3

Decent but can still be better.

After 3 weeks I'd analyze the OVC like this

1. Chesapeake
2. Rock Hill

3. Portsmouth
4. Coal Grove
5. Ironton

6. South Point
7. Fairland
8. Gallia

I believe peake and the hill are the top 2 teams at this point. Then the second tier of teams could make moves into the top just depends how much they improve and injuries. The bottom tier I feel will probably be looking to beat one another to even get a win this season.

Right now, five of the teams could win this league this year. Maybe, just maybe, South Point, Fairland or Gallia could play spoiler somewhere along the way as well.

Here are the key games coming up, so mark your calendars and figure out where you are going to eat before/after these dandies...

Week 4 (9/16)
Rock Hill at Portsmouth

Week 5 (9/23)
Coal Grove at Chesapeake

Week 6 (9/30)
Coal Grove at Portsmouth
Chesapeake at Ironton

Week 7 (10/7)
Ironton at Rock Hill
Portsmouth at Chesapeake

Week 8 (10/14)
Coal Grove at Ironton

Week 9 (10/21)
Chesapeake at Rock Hill

Week 10 RIVALRY WEEK (10/28)
Kudos to the conference for scheduling these great rivalry games last on the schedule. Some of the best rivalries in the area.
Rock Hill at Coal Grove
Ironton at Portsmouth
Fairland at Chesapeake
South Point at Gallia

P.S. There are three OVC teams entering conference play with undefeated records: Rock Hill (3-0); Chesapeake (3-0); Coal Grove (2-0). Could somebody run the table and go UNDEFEATED?

Last night was Ashland's first win. A win against Ashland doesn't make them conference champions. Still have to go through Chesapeake, Coal Grove, Rock Hill and Portsmouth
