So with the new football season about 6 months away, what are your thoughts and predictions for 2016?

I'm not sure what all ironton lost myself. gonna be a wild year in the ovc. from what I'm hearing ironton should be the favorite, and coal grove is apparently loaded though.
and welcome the gahs blue devils to the mix this year.

yes rock hill should be tough as well as Chesapeake. I think this was a great move for the ovc expanding.

Hopefully the Portsmouth Trojans can get back to respectability.......24-56 the last 8 years with no playoffs. So many games during these 8 years the Trojans weren't even competitive. It will take Coach Duncan time to turn things around.......he can't microwave Trojan football into a winning program this soon.

Chesapeake, then Coal Grove, then Ironton and Rock Hill. Glad to see basketball season is coming to a close so we can start talking football!

The great thing about football is they will have their chance to prove it!

Let'sGoPSU: Not only has open enrollment hurt Portsmouth's numbers, the city has 3 high schools. Chillicothe, with a similar population to Portsmouth (Chillicothe just under 22,000/ Portsmouth 20,226) has only 1 high school. If you combined the 3 schools in Portsmouth (which will never happen) PHS would easily be a D3 school in football and D2 in basketball. Now include open enrollment into the equation and that further erodes Portsmouth High School's numbers.

Chillicothe HS has 335 boys, while Portsmouth HS has 162 boys. Stark contrast between two schools within cities of somewhat similar populations.

The Portsmouth campus is beautiful, but the surrounding city has major issues.Just spent some time at home, its really depressing to drive around the town where I grew up. Not sure what the answer is, but do know that the pride in the city is still strong. I hear Kasich speak of the growth in Ohio, did he forget about the Southern Tip?

Look for Rock Hill to turn some heads (again). I think it will be a race between Coal Grove and Chesapeake
