1996 Jackson vs 2014 Jackson would be a good game given the edge to 1996

1996 Jackson lost 21-7 to Desales
Desales lost to Cleveland Benny 14-3

2014 Jackson lost to Desales 24-14
Desales lost to Athens 52-20
Lol. What is the point of this? 1996 Jackson didn't play the same DeSales team that 2014 Jackson played. Believe it or not, the style of football being played at all levels changed drastically in those nearly 20 years.

Pretty much just another plug for 2014 Athens apparently.

02, styles have changed a lot . How would you compare today's Ironmen football to the 90s

I may be wrong as Jackson southie pointed out but it seems to me that Jackson still played smash mouth football based around a dingy defense and a good running attack

It was fun to watch the Ironmen run a full house backfield Saturday

The only thing that has changed is the head coach's boy plays QB. Jackson has never thrown this much, hell most of the time they've had a running back playing the quarterback position. Now this year they want to throw it 20 times a game instead of 4, like the past.

A good coach changes his offense to got fit personal . The qb is a better passer this season there Jackson throws the ball, with much success I may add.

My assumption is Jackson will not schedule WW or Cabell Midland every year.

I could get paid for that assumption because you can take that one to the bank.

Good luck Friday, glad you are not banged up, hope the Farley kid has a highlight reel type of game as a senior. Hope your other seniors enjoy it as well.

I think it's really too hard to make comparisons between teams of different generations. The 1950s and 1990s were two great decades for Jackson football, and Coach Hall and his staff have had some great teams in recent years as well. I've been lucky enough to watch a lot of Jackson games over the last 25 years or so. It definitely has been a lot of fun to see so many successful teams and great players.

As doubleplay643 mentioned earlier this week, this group of seniors has a chance to make history by winning 29 varsity football games in the last three seasons. For a program with such a rich history, to be able to have 28 or 29 wins in three years is something that hasn't been done very often, so it's quite an accomplishment.

So you decided to repeat it?

Geez, man. The "lol" in my first post to you meant I was joking.

The whole point of the conversation is that this group of seniors can tie the mark set from '96-98.

I'm done. Good luck to the Ironmen tomorrow night. Win it for the seniors!

Outstanding and talented group of players, well deserved, well done.
I'm thinking they would tie the best varsity three year run, which would have been 1996-1998. Very impressive if they can get the win on Friday night and get to 29 wins.

1996: 11-1
1997: 9-2
1998: 9-1

Total: 29-4

2014: 11-1
2015: 11-2
2016: 7-3

Total: 29-6
Guys, it's not a big deal. I was joking because he said the same thing I said.

Anyone know the records of the 1995-1998 teams? They were really good.
