Im no expert, but I think I remember that the key to a 4-4 defense is two good defensice tackles, this allows the linebackers to have the ability to roam and fill the running lanes,without the two dt,s you might as well run a solid 5 -3 to fill the middle

I think I called this, Portsmouth is not a very good team. Portsmouth will continue to struggle running a 4-4 defense. Doesn't surprise me Portsmouth doesn't travel well, they are just like any other fair weather fan, but worse.

Not only does Portsmouth not travel well, they don't even get good home crowds anymore. Beautiful newer stadium that rarely has a large crowd (Burg, West & Ironton).
