Although I'd love to see a league with Athens, GA, Jackson, Ironton, Burg, and Chillicothe.. Won't ever happen again. But.... we could call it....the SOSEL. Same Old Southeast League.
Bring on Gallia and the TSL.

TVC Ohio
Athens
Gallia
Marietta
Meigs
Nelsonville York
Point Pleasant
Vinton County
Warren

TVC Hocking
Alexander
Belpre
Eastern
Fed Hock
Fort Frye
River Valley
Southern
Trimble
Waterford
Wellston
Would be a solid league for sure. Not too ridiculous of travel times either. One thing a lot of people forget when brainstorming realignments (looking at you, Big Ten and ACC) is how it will affect the non-revenue sports. Meaning sports other than football, and to a much lesser extent, boys/men's basketball. Yeah, an hour and a half trip to Lancaster isn't terrible on a Friday night, but when you're making that trip once or twice a year during the weeknights, per sport, the cost and the mental fatigue on the kids will both skyrocket.

And at the end of the day, they are *student* athletes. Student being the key word there.
Absolutely agree. The closer web over the conference, the better. It’s a little more difficult in this part of the state with schools being spread out or the large variance in enrollment. The SOC/OVC overlap somewhat. Definitely close enough to merge into a super conference. The TVC/TSL are also close enough to merge. The SVC/FAC as well. Normally what happens in the college ranks trickles down to the high school level. Will conferences combine in seo? We shall see.

I think it is time we face reality and high school
Sports. We need conferences set up for all sports other then football and then a football conferences set up seperate.

Schools in non football sports need to play all the schools close enough to geographically you can schedule enough other games to be post season ready.

Football wise those games all on weekend you can travel further and build competitive schedules

The real problem with football in this area of the state is fans don't travel with their teams anymore. There are very few fan bases that travel well over 30 minutes.

Their schools that don't travel well need a major part of their games played local for it to make sense and for football to make money.

If I had this setup I would be very happy with following conference.
1. Ironton
2. Waverly
3. Jackson
4. Gallia academy
5. Vinton county
6. Logan
7. Nelsonville York
8. Wheelersburg

You could add or subtract a few. But the home and visitor stands would have plenty of people in them every week. Concessions stands and boosters making bank. You could get bigger donations for game sponsors. With 12 teams making playoffs. A lot of teams in this leagues could make playoffs even at 6-4 and I think you would be playoff ready. .

It is a great move for P’Town to move to the SOC and play neighboring districts.
