That is complete garbage. Jackson actually voted no because they had the same concerns as Athens. All that was needed to end the whole thing was for one more school to vote no, but no one else stepped up to the plate. Jackson then accepted the decision of the other schools and stayed in the league. Athens, on the other hand, voted to leave the league before the expansion officially happened, despite the fact that they voted FOR expansion.

There are a lot of reasons that the SEOAL ended, but I'm so sick of Athens people saying stuff like this. Athens wanted out and what happened was their under-handed way of getting what they wanted. Now they get to dominate the TVC, and that's fine with me, but all this joy from you guys about the end of the SEOAL is sickening, mostly because you had the power to stop it.

And this as well. doubleplay and enigmaax hit the nail on the head.

There was no conspiracy involving athens when that vote took place and their plans im sure was to be part of the SEOAL forever. The invitation by the TVC came AFTER. People are mad because Athens was presented with a better option & they took it. Any school would have done the same, especially when it made so much sense financially!

I dont know why Athens gets blamed or chastised for causing the SEOAL to collapse. When they left the league had a lot of teams in it & was thriving. How bout taking a look at Marietta for bolting? Zanesville left. Chillicothe went their own way. Ironton wanted out. Even still the SEOAL was stable with Logan, jax, warren, gallia, portsmouth. Five team leagues are not rare, it could have went on. Portsmouth & gallia to the OVC ended the SEOAL, yet you blame a team that left 8 years ago? BS

It's pretty simple. If they didn't want expansion to happen, they should have voted no. Jackson did.

The TVC was a a "better" option at that time because there was no Joe Burrow walking the halls in Athens.

I specifically said in my post that there were many reasons that the SEOAL ended, not just that Athens left. I get annoyed when all these Athens people get on here and celebrate about the demise of the SEOAL, and act like they had no choice but to vote for expansion. THAT is BS.

Like I said, I'm fine with Athens being in the TVC. I'm not fine with all the jabs at the SEOAL and not owning up to what was done. It's a fact that Athens voted FOR expansion, but left the league before a single game was played. Jackson was begging for someone else to see the writing on the wall, but Athens didn't have the guts to actually vote no. Then they left. What is inaccurate about that?

I personally cant own up to anything. I have nothing to do with the school or its decision making. I can however understand doing something, then be presented with an option that didnt exist when that decision was made.

Athens played a bunch of league games versus Zanesville, chilli in all sports for two years. They didnt bolt before a game was played.

They voted to leave before the expansion that they originally voted for had begun. That was my point.

Obviously, I'm not saying that you, personally, had control over what Athens did or didn't do. I think you know me well enough to know that I actually really like you. Honestly, I think I still owe you a meal at B-Dub's, right? lol

As I look back I wish Jackson would have talked to Logan a little harder, but then it might have been helpless.

I guess I didn't realize this with respect to the voting that is. Good points, and very balanced commentary. The "back-story" to some of these decisions and moves are always interesting to us outsiders.

I hope the FAC will serve Jackson well, but it will frankly be difficult to replace the glory days of the SEOAL. I have always been bewildered and have stated it on here numerous times, that Jackson-Logan-Chillicothe-Athens need to play each other every year in football. Simply no reason no to, they are no more than a county and a half away from each other. Yes, I know some of them play each other now and will so in the future, but Athens versus Chillicothe or Jackson versus Athens would be great games to see.

Jackson will never drop Wellston. Easy win plus Wellston always plays three awful non conference games. Jackson's best win points wise

Both teams should grow a pair and play week 1.

As much as I hate to say it Jackson would do it but Athens won't. Gate difference for Jackson wouldn't be that different from Wellston.

I am hearing grumblings from both Jackson/Wellston camps that this series is not to far away from being done.

We don't agree on much don but we do on this.
The wellston Jackson series has been played out.
Time for a change . Not fair that wellston stars out 0-1 every year .
Oak hill vs wellston in week 1 on Friday
"Civil War"
Athens vs Jackson in week 1 on Saturday
"Trophy game"

As far as the gate, plenty of Jackson fans would come watch that game on Friday as its week 1 and fans are excited about football

Ditto with Jackson and Athens on Saturday

Like I said we don't agree much but someone with half a brain needs to make this happen
