WK2 Valley v Northwest... Right?

Post by mattash »

This has always been a pretty good matchup. Even size schools and both good programs.

Valley should control the line of scrimmage, which will allow the backs to produce, and allow for the recievers fill in the voids. With the heat this week it will be imperative for them to find a rotation to keep the players hydrated, prevent cramping, and head off exhaustion.

Valley will be ready this week for the Hornets. The Indians will improve after the first week and I don't expect to see the same mistakes. Valley by 10 in a low scoring affair.

I look for Coal Grove to play fast and wear Valley down.

Valley won’t win many games if they can’t get teams to respect their passing game. Portsmouth just stacked the box and run blitzed all night. Valley has a big te that I don’t see anyone being able to really cover if they can figure out how to get him the ball.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time the big TE has played the position. He's always been a tackle. The wide receivers are new to the position from what I have been told too. And I did not see much blitzing from Portsmouth, it looked like mostly man coverage and the pressure came from the 4 down linemen. I could be wrong but pressure up the middle was the biggest issue I saw throughout the evening on both running and throwing.

You could be right about him first time playing but valley has to find a way to get him the ball even if it’s spread him out wide and just toss it up to him. I was talking about them run blitzing every time we ran the ball. They didn’t respect our playaction. Our middle of the line did give up the most pressure. I’m sure valley will figure things out and with the expanded playoffs we still have a great chance of making it with our schedule.

I could see maybe trying to force the ball his way a time or two in the red zone, but to say valley has to find a way to get him the ball is a bit much. if im thinking the young man you are talking about, he doesnt have blazing speed. so not sure what forcing the ball to him would accomplish? Its my understanding that Arnett was hurt before the game, some kids were playing their first game at a new position, combine those things with depth issues, and thats not a good combo. Valley will regroup and be fine. Not sure about this game with Coal grove, not sure what they have, but i expect a better product from valley this week.
