This is true and Crabtree is a good coach. But these teams aren’t close on talent. Valley does not have the speed to defend Portsmouth and the biggest offensive threat Valley had now plays in Ironton

He was a huge loss for Valley. Before teams had to double that kid or roll their coverage to him. They don’t have that now. It’s like adding another defender

So by talent you are referring to skill kids. Portsmouth will have a speed and athletic advantage.

Valley will have a big advantage upfront.

Guess we will see how that plays out.

Portsmouth will man up the outside because they know Valley can’t hurt them on the outside

Just an opinion but they aren’t constantly running the ball against 8 and 9 in the box

I’m no coach but I would load the box if I was Portsmouth. Valley has a big line so you know they are running down the throat.

I might as well just make one post for the entire season of Portsmouth football.......can the defense get enough stops? The Trojan offense will be one of the SE district's best, but the defense makes it difficult for the O to try and outscore the opponent.

With the expanded playoffs, the Trojans should be able to muster up a spot.....even with a defense that annually takes on water.

If you're a fan of high scoring, big play football games, come to watch a Portsmouth game. It won't be a disappointing experience.

GO TROJANS!!

Yes losing him hurt, but there are others that are now a threat as well. They have the skill kids and a replacement go to reciever that will make a name for himself this year. Valley is being underestimated going into this year by most due to low #'s, however the #'s they have are above par athletes. Big line, mobile qurterback, and multiple skill kids that will make waves. Good luck both teams, Valley 49- Portsmouth 35

This should be interesting with the contrasting styles. I was very impressed with Portsmouth's QB vs Waverly.

Is the Ribber open?

I'll say Arnett runs wild and Valley wins a shootout by a score of 34-26. Hate to see summer coming to an end, but darn glad to see high school football back*

Was able to make it down to the coliseum for the first time tonight. It’s a great facility and should be an outstanding game. I’ll take the Indians by 14.

End of the 1st 0-0 valley has moved the ball but threw a int in the redzone. valley had the ball almost the whole quarter. The one drive Portsmouth had they couldn’t block valleys dline at all.

Portsmouth is dominating up front so far neither team can get any momentum moving the ball

Valley with the field goal as time expired at the half score 3-0. Valley has to establish some threat of passing Portsmouth is just stacking the box
