As a Neutral Fan, I don't want this to be Rude, but whether it be the start, the middle, or the end of the season, tell me why I would be interested in Burg's Football History ? I watch them a few games each year, but I'm not really into there history.

Same goes with the Ptown, Ironton or any other has-been team. It doesn't matter a hill of beans what a team did last year let alone decades ago. It's laughable how grown adults come on here acting like a bunch of Trumps.

Then don’t click on it. Go back to your tree hugging, road blocking meetings.

As a fan of both wheelersburg and ironton I enjoy discussing their history. Games they won or lost and how they won or lost them. I think the reason is I was in attendance at a bunch of them so it brings back memories of good times and good friends and tough losses etc. I am not expecting you to want to discuss that if your not a fan of either team. So you don’t need to get on here. I wouldn’t be on a thread discussing nelsonville or Portsmouth or waverly history or wherever But I wouldn’t go on there and demean you for doing it if that was your interest. Sure wouldn’t insult the school or program by calling you has beens. I don’t very why there is a need for that but it seems to happen on here constantly.

Burgs history is pretty awesome. 2 state titles. A bunch of playoff wins, regionals, etc.

But One of the best stats is they have one of the highest winning percentages all time in the state of Ohio. I think I read somewhere that it’s like fourth all time. Pretty impressive since they didn’t start until 1956 which is about 50 years later than some of the local programs around here. Imagine how many total wins they’d have if they did? Probably own that category too.

So does the above logic mean that if a school has a 1st year football program and goes undefeated, if they'd have started 50 years earlier they'd hold the record? Wouldn't starting 50 years earlier also bring with it the opportunity for more losses as well? Congrats to burg for being 4th on the list but i would think the more games you've played, the harder it would be to maintain the higher winning percentage.

I completely agree! As a longtime highschool football fan the history of many schools is very interesting to me and brings back many memories from many games I've watched over the last 40+ years. I've followed many southern ohio schools on deep playoff runs over the years and wouldn't trade the memories, and fun I've had along the way for anything. Keep the history coming for many of us who enjoy it so much. So enjoyable to reminisce over the great teams and players we've watched over the years.

I like reading the history of all teams and leagues. I enjoyed Jottings post on the old days of the SEOAL when he was on here.

Sheesh there is more teams / talent in our area than just those 2 teams
But is there as much history than in these two teams? Do any other teams have as many wins and as high of a career win percentage?
Portsmouth Notre Dame has state titles , NY has a great tradition and a title , Athens just recently had the best team ever to come out of our area and heisman trophy candidate, Jackson has over 600 wins and is always good . But we’ll all be quiet and study about burg and Ironton. Sorry man.
The best part about this site is that you get to choose which topic you read with a simple click or just scrolling on by. Sounds to me like you need to just keep on scrolling.

I'm interested in hearing opinions on who'd have won between the 1989 burg team vs 1989 ironton team. Opinions?
