Weather could get ugly tomorrow with Gordon swinging through. Lots of rain to come. lightning and thunder could play a role in delays. Good thing this is being played in Jackson. regardless the rain won't help things. could create for drastic outcomes.

Due to weather, report I got this morning that the game could be switched to Saturday due to thunderstorms tomorrow.

Let’s be honest here, the blue aren’t supposed to win this game, Jackson has 150 more guys to pick from: they have had the upper hand and have been deserving of their accomplishment. But,,, , as happens in southeastern Ohio, smaller schools have years they are good and years they aren’t, ( exception wheelersburg, and coach Woodward sic: Gallipolis grad) has a freaking machine. That being said . Jackson should be a 21 point favorite. And deservingly so. So who really has the pressure in them, not the blue devils, lol

I believe that the devils will play hard and keep playing hard . So good luck to both teams
But I’m taking The Gallia Academy Blue Devils in what could be the biggest upset in the last
10 years.

It’s my sincere hope all players stay healthy and play a clean game.

Go Blue

GA finally has a good Coach ! But it takes time ! All the things that has happen to the program in the past! Not playing the right players ! This Coach should have been the head coach long before this ! Should be a good game ! GO GA!

I am tired of this same old garbage. Yes Penrod was a candidate for the head coaching job when Eddy left. But don’t act like it was a slam dunk. Not even all the players on that team wanted Penrod. Then after that they didn’t even do a search. If you want to say the blue devils messed that up I am 100% with you.

But this crap about not playing the right players is a pile of crap. My son played on 3 of those 4 years. He did not play a lot. Ask him why. He wasn’t as good as the guy in front of him. Those teams had a lot of the right kids playing not the right coach.

A lot of things wrong during that period but it was not who didn’t see field my god most weeks they had every healthy body out there.

Coach makes a lot of difference but just like when coach eddy was here there are plenty people in the stands who don’t like Penrod. But that is part of coaching at Gallia academy.

What takes time is rebuilding youth football that started before Penrod but he will benefit from it for a long time. Because now he is looking at a pipeline of kids.

But that has nothing to do with Friday night. The problem is you only can improve so much in a year. The blue devils have made a tremendous jump in a year. A year ago. They had no shot at this game. Now they have improved enough that they are still a definite underdog. But it is now in the realm of possibility. I think this blue devil team has improved enough if this was acweek 10 game. I would actually like our chances. This is a week 3 game we are still figuring things out.

That is the difference in the 2 programs jackson has enough kids and enough depth they pretty much know what they have at end of summer. A thin small group like Gallia academy with lack of depth you don’t really know until you know.

Sorry about the tangent but even when my son played the other parents would complain about who was playing. Even the kids parents of kids playing complaining and I would ask show me the kid who should be out there and who should come out... and they all turn quite... that is excuse teams and parents of teams who suck make and I am tired of hearing it...

If Gallia is only down 7 at half I would be thrilled. If this game is 21-14 at half Jackson I like Gallia in a upset.

The problem is going to be the Gallia defense getting off field. The Gallia offense will move the ball and gain 1st downs.

My guess would be

GAHS. 0. 7. 14 7 28
Jackson. 14. 14. 0. 7. 35

So Gallia is D6 this year? Didn’t know that. Jackson probably has 60 more boys in band than Gallia too.

Actually, after competitive balance, Jackson is 304 and Gallia 234. Difference of 70. Adding South Gallia to Gallia Academy would be roughly the same size of Jackson.

Thanks for pointing out the competitive balance adjustment to the enrollment. I honestly had forgotten that they were doing that now.

Gallia Academy's enrollment has definitely decreased since the days that they were in the same region with Jackson. I'd be willing to bet that the football rosters have roughly the same amount of kids in Grades 10-12, but Jackson does have a larger population to choose from. It's not a 150 person difference though.

I have them down at 7 because of the fact that the offense will move the ball. My concern is that the Blue Devils will give up too many points in the second half because of a worn down defense. I guess we will see. We really don't have much different outcomes though.
