Fred Crow Jr. (Pomeroy)

Post by FANOSPORTS »

He played and lettered at OSU in mid 30's and passed away in 1995 shortly after the first big Notre Dame - Ohio State game that had taken place in years. I know it was long ago but read the below article on pages 67, 68 thru the top of page 69 on the Notre Dame-OSU game in 1935 which was by many viewed as the greatest game of the first 50 years last century. Notre Dame won the game 18-13 but what Fred Crow (who was an Attorney by the way) had to say about his arm and a blocked PAT kick in that game is something else. Luckily, he lived to see the 1995 game or his wishes may have been carried out by George Strode who was a sportswriter for the Columbus Citizen Journal and Columbus Dispatch for around 40 years. (George himself was born in Amesville in Athens county and passed away in 2017 and is buried in Meigs county).
