Re: Final 4: Wheelersburg vs. Johnstown

Johnstown manhandled the Burg O & D line. Ran all over the Burg. Did not think the Burg would be dominated like that at the line of scrimmage

Paper titles meant something long ago. Doesn't mean a thing since 1972. Good for tp if we ever become Venezuela. Go Hoban.

Re: Final 4: Wheelersburg vs. Johnstown

Lets talk some educated football here for a little bit....enough of the past, what ifs, fantasy scenarios...lets talk about something BOTH teams have to deal with NOW......will either team practice, watch film, meet together, or be totally off tomorrow on Thanksgiving Day. I am interested in seeing...

Re: 2019 Ironton Tigers Outlook

The Lutz era may be long gone but will never be forgotten. This is a group of new coaches and new players. Give them time to establish their own identity and legacy. They will respond.

Re: Coaching Changes

A successful program begins at the grade school and middle school level. Once a kid gets to high school, it is tough to get them to come out and play a sport they never played be it baseball etc. I played football from grade 4-8. I didn't play 9&10 because I just wanted to play basketball. I end...

Was Paint Valley really that bad or was Shadyside that good? That was an old fashioned spanking.

Good to see the Blue Devil program back on track and making progress. I hope they get the facilities they deserve. Keep up the good work.

Re: 2019 Ironton Tigers Outlook

Good things happening. Lost two we shouldn't have lost. Playoff game was closer than most expected and if the Tigers tie the game toward the end, who knows how that would have turned out. Were much more competetive with the Burg and Tomcats than recent years. Youth and inexperience will no longer be...

Re: Ohsaa making Cheerleaders pay to cheer?

This is the biggest bunch of nonsense I have ever heard of. If it is true, the OHSAA needs to answer for this. The Columbus Dispatch and other large city papers should be all over this asking questions etc. Do OHSAA members, their family and friends have to pay to get in games? I bet not. And if the...

Re: OHSAA FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS ?

I am aware of that. I played in that game in 1980. But there is a big difference geographically between Ironton and Steubenville. You would think he would be aware of that. When I explained that Ironton was in Southern Ohio on the river, most thought of Cincinnati. When I told them that it was on th...

Re: OHSAA FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS ?

I believe I have told this story before but it is worth telling again. It is how the northerners view SEO. And that includes coaches. When I was at Akron, I got a call from the D Coordinator to show a recruit around for the weekend. I asked why he chose me. He said you're from SEO and so is this rec...

Re: Region 19 #8 Ironton @ #1 Johnstown-Monroe

I would like to see the Tigers get a win but I would be more confident if they hadn't lost their last two games. Not the best way to enter the playoffs.

Re: Region 15 #7 Licking Valley @ #2 Gallia Academy

Don't agree with OHSAA on this one. GAHS earned a home game and it should be played there. I bet the OHSAA never intended to let the Blue Devils play at home. They just needed to negotiate a place to play. I hope the Blue Devils rocks it and sticks it OHSAA for this move. Just more incentive to win....

Re: Week 11 Ironton vs Johnstown

I think when they are on there game, and not making the silly mistakes and unforced turnovers, that the Tigers can play with just about anyone. With the exception of the game with Wheelersburg, I'm beginning to wonder if the Mental part of the game is starting to become a factor in some of these game...

Re: Portsmouth 35 Ironton 28

Last week the Tigers were playing for an OVC championship and a home game in the 1st round. They blew it. This week they were playing for a 1st round home game. They blew it. Portsmouth played for a playoff spot that was not guaranteed and they took care of business on their end. Complacency vs hung...

Re: Portsmouth 35 Ironton 28

No excuses here. The Trojans wanted it more and they took it away from the Tigers. Good luck to all SEO teams that made the playoffs. Represent well
