Re: WEEK 8 -- 4-3 COAL GROVE @ 5-2 IRONTON -- BORDER WAR SPECIAL

The officiating was poor, both ways I believe. The OVC assigns officials, so accusing Ironton of cheating is a moot point. Remember, those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Just ask Fairland what they think about the clock “mysteriously “ malfunctioning during the game at Coal Grove ...

Re: JV Game cancelled Sat. Oct. 13 due to no available officials/referees

This is a problem that is getting worse. There are reasons to explain it: officials ranks are thinning, some might have to work, some don’t like thought of giving up Saturday, some physically can’t do a Saturday morning game after a Friday night game because they aren’t as young as they used to be, ...

Re: importance of having a good kicker.

Kicking has become a lost art. The fact that kickoffs have become a thing of the past in All levels from Freshman down, it is hard to develop even a PAT person. Junior high and freshman seem to have little time to work on the kicking and holding, due to one less day of work per week since they play...

Re: importance of having a good kicker.

I wouldn't say Soccer is essential to have at a school as long as the person teaching/instructing the kickers knows what they're talking about. NY has had a couple kickers as of late who kicked soccer style and have had success. The Maiden kid had one of the strongest legs in the area hands down. A...

Are we talking about someone other than who is in the Tiger backfield?

I am sure he is talking about Parker from Portsmouth, who is a top quality back.

Ironton’s offense not clicking yet? Averaging almost 52 a game over the last 3. I’d hate to see it if the offense does click.

Re: WEEK 8 -- 4-3 COAL GROVE @ 5-2 IRONTON -- BORDER WAR SPECIAL

Sorry, but I wouldn’t call this a rivalry. Coal Grove’s two rivals are Chesapeake for the Little Brown Jug and Rock Hill in the series known for fights galore. Ironton’s main rival has been Ashland from way back and maybe Wheelers urg. Ironton and Coal Grove is a border battle, nothing more, nothing...

Re: Indications Point To The Elimination Of The High School Football Kickoff

As much as I love every aspect of the game, especially the kicking game, I can understand getting rid of kickoff. But when you think about the other side of it, not the injury aspect, but the point where it could possibly change the game it could be really controversial. A KOR that sparks a team or...

Re: Running Clock

When games get out of hand, a few really bad things can happen and that's why the running clock has been implemented: 1) Quicker endings in blowouts lead to fewer injuries. I've witnessed season ending injuries that could have been avoided by a running clock. 2) Unnecessary ejections by both teams. ...

Re: (3-3) Portsmouth @ (3-3) Chesapeake

I see this one being whomever scores last wins. Chesapeake's offense is potent enough to score against a suspect Portsmouth defense at will and I think Portsmouth's Parker could have a field day since Ironton ran pretty much at will with 350 yards on the ground yards last week. He had 261 but that’...

Volleyball Scoring

How many are old enough to remember volleyball scoring when a team could only score when they served?

What are thoughts between the old scoring method and rally scoring as it is now?

Just food for thought on a Thursday.
