Re: Head Coaching Vacancies

Looking at these numbers only furthers my belief that the SOC should slightly expand and have 3 divisions. I've always liked something along these lines: SOC 1 Notre Dame St. Joe New Boston East Clay Green SOC 2 Symmes Valley South Webster Eastern Western Valley Oak Hill SOC 3 Wheelersburg Waverly M...

Re: Head Coaching Vacancies

The SOC I and II are supposed to be split evenly according to enrollment I think. I know they haven't always stuck to this with Northwest and Valley for football. But, I think according to numbers and Ironton St Joe coming in, Eastern had to move up to balance out the conference. Someone needs to l...

Re: Ironton boys basketball job?

Ironton can't go wrong with either Fitch or Barrick, honestly. Both are fantastic choices if they decide to go that route. art_vandelay, I'm betting that won't happen. Seemed to be some bad blood with how it ended last time, I'd say the chance of Fitch even pursuing it is less than 1%.... but what d...

Re: Head Coaching Vacancies

Geesh, is Robertson at Waverly starting to worry about his job? The 3 other Pike County coaches all stepped down, he has to be nervous! :D Only kidding.. Hate to see Barrick step down, but can't say I'm fully surprised. Eastern has a very difficult task at hand joining the SOC 2 this year and gradua...

Re: 2019 Statewide District Finals → State Finals Brackets (Div I, II, III & IV) Updates and Scores Thread

Huge win for Harvest Prep! I will admit I definitely picked this one wrong.

Harvest had a size disadvantage and out-rebounded Purcell Marian AND held 6'6" Garrett to only 2 points. Great job by Harvest coaches and players!

Re: STATE CHAMP PICKS:

I agree with the first 3 divisions, but I think Division IV is Convoy Crestview’s to lose. The Etzler boys are the real deal. Oldest one signed with Miami (OH) and the youngest is a high major prospect. I believe we’ll be seeing him in a Buckeye uniform in a few years Crestview vs Hiland in the fin...

Re: SE DIV III Athens Regional

Of course I see the problem in it, but it’s better than keeping them in D4 for so many years. D4 is the image for small town basketball and it was dominated by the private’s for many years. Many, many years. D3 has a slightly better chance than D4 to beat those teams due to higher enrollment, albeit...

Harvest Prep is probably a 15-20 point underdog to Purcell Marian. Purcell Marian will be far more athletic than Harvest Prep and a lot taller. Purcell Marian lost to the D3 state champ Deer Park in overtime last year. Purcell has everything back. They play schools like Moeller I agree. Purcell-Mar...

This will be a fantastic game. D4 has some very good, talented, and well coached teams in the finals this year. This will be a fun one to take in.

Re: SE DIV III Athens Regional

Congratulations to Burg who belonged in the big dance. It's a shame that every year four private schools represent Ohio in Columbus. CB numbers in basketball don't mean anything when there are only four divisions. D-3 is stronger than D-2 this year with Harvest Prep, Purcell Marian, Cardinal Stritc...

Re: Sheridan 55 New Philadelphia 53 a final in OT ... Generals to the Show !!!

Tough matchup upcoming against a very talented Columbus South team but it’s not impossible.. Sheridan is very good with plenty of size and a stud in Heller. As long as they can stay disciplined against South they will have a shot, but it will be no easy task.. South was one of the best teams in Colu...

Hiland and Crestview would be an awesome state championship to watch. Convoy more talent (2 D1 players), but Hiland deeper.

Re: Regional Final: Wheelersburg vs Harvest Prep

It was a good game to watch and the better team won. Both teams had things that didn’t fall their way, but that’s basketball. Neither team shot it well. One thing I don’t agree with is yabba’s belief that the team with the larger crowd should be at the Schott, not the better team. Kids earn the win ...

Re: Enrollment #'s for Elite 8 Teams

Tri-StateYouthSports: I've seen a number of posts over time on this site about the difference between open enrollment and competitive balance. Are they related in terms of affecting a school's enrollment, and does one have the advantage over the other? Are "move-ins/transfers" categorized as open e...

Re: Regional Final: Wheelersburg vs Harvest Prep

I’ve been saying for a time that Wheelersburg is the most talented team in the Region. I will stick to that and openly admit if I’m wrong after this game. Holden is still the best player on the floor. Yes .... CJ Anthony is very talented but doesn’t have Holden’s length. This is Wheelersburg’s last...

Re: Regional Final: Wheelersburg vs Harvest Prep

What I saw out of Harvest Prep was a team that could win it all in all four divisions but they do have some flaws if you call it that. Things I think burg could try to do to win. - Be active in passing lanes. They threw some bad passes in the Adena game. Unfortunately for Adena they couldn't capita...

Re: Regional Final: Wheelersburg vs Harvest Prep

The one thing I noticed with Columbus City All-stars is the big man was able to dominate the glass last night against Adena. He was able to go over the Adena players all night long. I don’t think he will be able to do that with Holden in the middle. Tanner has to stay on the floor the whole game. B...

Re: Regional Final: Wheelersburg vs Harvest Prep

Burg has a shot, an even better shot than last year in my mind..... but it's no easy task. If they try to run with HP then I think Harvest wins by 20-25... If they're able (and capable) to slow the game down and limit HP to 1 shot most possessions, then I think Burg could potentially upset them or l...

Congrats Burg! Once they were down 15 I thought it was over, but they battled back and deserved the win.

Tough game coming up with Harvest but if there's any player in SEO that can do it, it's Tanner Holden!

Re: Regional 3/14 6:15pm Wheelersburg (25-0) vs Magnolia Sandy Valley

I haven't picked against Burg all year, but for once I think I'm going to tonight. I was the one talking about Meadowbrook for weeks so if this team has enough to beat Meadowbrook, they must be pretty daggon good. I'm going with Sandy Valley 61 Burg 55 But I wouldn't mind seeing another Harvest + Bu...
