Re: WEEK 3: Symmes Valley (1-1) @ Chesapeake (0-2)

I'm going with Symmes. Not a big Symmes Valley fan but you have to give them their due. Have seen Chesapeake they are running an offense that depends on the blocking of the wide receivers and they have real trouble moving the ball because of poor blocking by the wideouts . The interior linemen have ...

Re: WEEK # 3 NORTHWEST @ HUNTINGTON

Maverick Wellston was playing without some of their starters in the Huntington game after being banged up by Jackson. I have seen both Wellston and Northwest on film and I can tell you this, they are a completely different kind of offense. Wellston ran shotgun option plays and tried to run inside. I...

Re: Federal Hocking say it ain't so

After watching them against Alexander I have two thoughts. One the Qb looks to be a good athlete hopefully he is young and they will get him back next year. Two they will take another year of strength training and weights before the offensive line can compete up front. Right now strength and offensi...

Re: Wk2 Oak Hill(1-0) vs Wheelersburg(1-0)

Oak Hill needs to replace Wheelersburg with Wellston who is coming off the schedule after this year. Just as good a gate, more competitive game every year, and a good rivalry. Those two schools should play every year. They should also try to get Alexander back on the schedule, not that far in terms ...

Re: Week 1: Vinton Co. (TVC) @ Unioto (SVC)

Vinton County is going to have a rough road, until they get past Athens. The first part of their schedule is murder. Then Meigs,Wellston , and Nelsonville appear to be playing at the same level. Hard games but can be anyone's win. Alexander it depends on how they come along right now I think the Vik...

Re: WEEK 2: SYMMES VALLEY (1-0) @ ALEXANDER (1-0)

First time the Spartans will be hit in the mouth. Federal Hocking when tackling mainly grabbed and hung on in the first game. Federal Hocking did not look real strong either. Symmes will be physical and strong. Symmes can be pretty tough running the ball. They have hard running backs and usually goo...

Re: Minford 2014

I only saw Ironton play this year one time in person and then on video vs. the Burg. I do not think their athletes dropped off that much. What I saw was a lack of discipline on the field. They did things you would not have seen a Lutz coached team do. The Wing T is an offense that is tailored to mak...

Re: Minford 2014

You do realize with the internet and sites like Huddle, most teams have an opportunity to see their competition on video a lot before playing them. In the case of playoff games it is a state rule that you have to give the opposing team quite a bit of video , so the competition is quite familiar with...

Re: Will specialization kill off some sports?

I think what baseball and track has to be concerned with is that if Urban at Ohio State ever gets his way and pressures the OHSAA to sanction spring football in Ohio it will kill those sports. I have been out of coaching for a few years now but have heard that new rule changes allow a football coach...

Re: SEOAL-2014 Updates---Top 20 G & B

Elijah Woolum from Jackson threw 119 feet 5 inches in the Discus at Minford also. I don't know if only the first 8 places were recorded but Gee and him had a tie for 8th and Gee won the tie breaker. Shank for Jackson threw 81 feet in the girl's discus last Tuesday at a home meet against Minford and ...

Re: Minford 2014

Love to watch a well executing Wing T team, even if it's Minford. Its a thing of discipline, precision and beauty. I like the ability of being able take a team of lesser size and talent and drilling them to be able to execute enough to run a better team off the field. Then if you have tough hard nos...

Re: OAK HILL OAKS to SOCII?

I think Oak Hill is where it should be. If they moved up to the SOC II they would have a difficult time successfully competing for a league title year in and year out. Right now they have a chance at getting computer points from their non-league , playing the likes of Wheelersburg, Minford and Iront...

Re: Arno done at Alexander!

Coach Arno did a great job at Alexander but that newspaper article is way off base about him guiding Alexander to its first three consecutive winning seasons. As I posted on this same thread before. It's ancient history but 1971-5 wins 4 losses 1972-6 wins 3 losses 1973-7 wins 2 losses 1 tie, 1974- ...

Re: What was the best team in Jackson?

Who were the two brothers on that Nelsonville York team, I'm thinking their name was Smathers? One was a running back, the other was a beast at defensive end. One of Jackson's defensive tackles that had a lot of talent, was very undisciplined that night and kept penetrating straight up field. The ru...

Re: What was the best team in Jackson?

10-0 regular season. They only took 4 teams out of each region then. Beat Hillsboro in the first game, one Hillsboro player went on to start for the Michigan State team that beat Ohio State at Ohio State, he was a key player in that win. In the second roundJackson played Columbus De Sales and lost i...

Dave Snipes to the best of my recollection 42-19-2 dont know about Arno but that is a pretty good record.
1971- 5-4
1972 -6-3
1973- 7-2-1
1974 6-4
1975 9-1
1976 8-1-1
1977 1-8-1?

Re: Week 11: #7 Oak Hill @ #2 Bishop Ready

They are a really good team with good size and an outstanding running back who can hurt you if he gets outside on sweeps. However he makes a lot of plays on his own when the blocking breaks down , making people miss when he runs outside the blocking especially on off tackle plays. Lot of times this ...
