Re: Rest in peace Ken Fritz
Ken was one of the greatest players in the long history of the now-defunct S.E.O.A.L. Co-MVP of the league his senior year, a great honor for a guard-LB.

Re: Ironton fans trying to run long time sportswriter out of town
I read the so-called controversial newspaper story. I saw nothing wrong with his analogy. Walker also lumped in all the the losses in the finals under Coach Lutz, so it was not an attack on the current staff or team. Why would people think Jim Walker hates Ironton High? His kids all graduated from I...

I just watched Sportscenter. ESPN had the kickoff return by Perkins as the number one play of the day.

Remembering Ironton's Jermon Jackson
This is my tribute story for the former Ironton High and Ohio State running back.
Saturday will be a tough day for the Ironton community. My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family.

Re: Jim Thorpe at Tanks Memorial Stadium
Universal Stadium, now Spartan Municipal Stadium, was completed after Thorpe's one season in Portsmouth. Thorpe played at Labold Field in Portsmouth, which was located in roughly the same area as Spartan Municipal. Tanks Memorial Stadium just happened to be an almost brand new stadium when Thorpe vi...

Re: Ironton's Coy Bacon Receives Posthumous Honor
Coy Bacon is Canton worthy. He was a genuine superstar in the NFL. Most amazing thing was he got better with age. After his playing days, Coy could be found at an Ironton basketball or football game. He had no security surrounding him, and he sat among the regular fans. He was truly one of us. Not w...

Jim Thorpe at Tanks Memorial Stadium
Ironton's iconic football stadium has seen a lot of big moments, but the biggest day might have been when Jim Thorpe played on the field in front of the covered bleachers. This is my story on Jim Thorpe and his game at Tanks Memorial Stadium. The story is over 22,000 words, and in pdf. Story has a s...

I have a great appreciation for Kirtland's iron game. No doubt it has played a key role in the growth of Kirtland football into what it is today.

Re: HANG ON! OHSAA To Move State Football Championships To Massillon
I know a lot about weight lifting. I am still one of the strong guys at my gym. If your coaches are dumb enough to have them lifting a few hours before a game of such magnitude, they are nuts. Last thing you would want is a bum knee from squatting or a sore shoulder from benching putting a key playe...

Re: HANG ON! OHSAA To Move State Football Championships To Massillon
It seems probable that Massillon offered free usage of their stadium. Most schools would do so in order for their team to play at home for a state title. OHSAA makes more money. Massillon gets a real edge on a state title for their school. A win-win. LOL Not sure why Ironton has agreed to this. Expe...

Remembering former Ironton team physician, John Leach
Dr. John Leach, a noted Columbus orthopedic and sports medicine surgeon, recently passed away. After a 120-mile drive back home, the former Ironton High School quarterback roamed his alma mater's sideline on Friday nights. He drove to wherever the Tigers played for more than three decades. He also p...

Sorry, but my eyes don't see any "kids" in this video. I see people with no respect for humanity and the laws of God and our country. The person doing most of the talking in the video stated right off that he is an adult. He was at OSU this fall semester. Most of the people in the video ap...

Bob's favorite song.... not surprising for a 1975 IHS graduate as it was a big hit for the artist.
