Re: Regional Final: Wheelersburg vs Harvest Prep

What happened to McCorkle in the 2nd half? Thought he gave them good minutes in the 1st half and gave them that extra inside presence. He played the 2nd qtr and HP did not score. I know it wasn't all him but he gave them good minutes. Was wondering the same thing. Prep really struggled on offense w...

Re: Regional 3/14 6:15pm Wheelersburg (25-0) vs Magnolia Sandy Valley

Gotta admit I thought Burg was done when they got down by 15, but I should've learned a long time ago not to doubt those kids. Holden is one of the best all-around athletes this county has ever seen...looking forward to getting up to some Wright State games and watching him next few years. Congrats ...

Re: Irontons Coach Mark Lafon steps down as Head Coach.

bob: post was limited to who I'd contact if I was Ironton (again, not saying any of these guys are actually interested). Also said timing was right for most of them, not all of them. Barrick was at Wheelersburg for almost 20 years...don't think he'd be scared off by football.*

Re: Irontons Coach Mark Lafon steps down as Head Coach.

Ironton is one of the better jobs in the area and should be able to pull a current head coach from another school (not a learn-on-the-job position). If I'm Ironton AD, here's the order of my phone calls: 1. Norm 1. Barrick 3. Speed If they not available, then Ater and Vanderhoof are a few who might ...

bbjunky: great job like Ironton opening up will make for an interesting few months on here. I can personally think of 3 current coaches that would qualify as "board breakers" and Ironton would make sense on a few levels for each one of them.*

Re: 3/9 Wheelersburg v Hiland

Congrats to Burg on a great season. No shame in losing to a tough team like that. Like lucas said above, the shot against Morgan will be remembered for a long time regardless of the result of the next game. yabbadabbadoo/hawks1112: I can remember as a kid way back (around 91 or 92) getting to meet C...

Re: 3/9 8PM Wheelersburg (24-0) v Alexander (17-7)

Seeing it live, I thought it was correct call. I get the argument that Holden was trying to hold on for his own safety, but when he dragged Terry down to the floor with him, it had to be called. Agreed with greygoose though that regardless of result, it was worth it to Burg as Holden could've been s...

Re: Regional 3/14 6:15pm Wheelersburg (25-0) vs Magnolia Sandy Valley

Don't know anything about Sandy Valley, but know they beat some real teams to get to Regionals. Burg going to need more from Holden's supporting cast to keep advancing. Would like to see Truitt get some more looks on offensive end of court. McCorkle gave them good minutes off bench Saturday and Mill...

Re: SOC2 2019-2020

League looks down overall next year. Way, way-too-early predictions (and as always, subject to change when free agency begins!): 1. Burg (Truitt/Miller/McCorkle is a nice returning nucleus) 2. Waverly (not much of a dropoff in Waverly...Robertson going to be special) 3. South Webster (Bockway could ...

Re: 3/7 7PM (24-1) Notre Dame v (17-7) Peebles

Sounds like a game where Peebles controlled tempo . I know ND would probably want it in the 60's or 70's . Rough loss , I doubt another 6'4 player like Detwiller comes thru in a long time . The cupboard sure isn't bare as they return a bunch but the big girl in the paint sure was a difference maker...

How the hell does this jersey situation keep happening?? It’s a freaking district tourney game...bring both sets of jerseys to be safe!! You’d think after the New Boston screwup last year, every team in the area would be aware of the rule, but I guess not. What game was it by the way? As for the off...

Maybe Alexander had an off-night yesterday, but I think Burg looks 10-15pts better than them. Terry will cause Burg some problems, but Burg looked a lot more athletic to me. Good luck to the Pirates next week.*

Re: Convo 3/3 Glenwood vs. South Webster

Was a great game for sure that lived up to its billing. New Boston missed 3 free throws in final seconds of close, early-season loss at Webster. Today, they hit 12-12 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter and that was the difference in the ball game. Would not be surprised to see New Boston in...

Word is South Webster will be going to D3 next year. I haven't checked for myself but from a reliable person. South Webster 101(-2) unless they have a 20+ CB addition, I don't see it happening. Exactly...SW girls went D3 this year, but the boys' new number is at 101. Unless a huge competitive balan...

Good luck to the Pirates on Saturday. I've been as guilty as anyone looking ahead to a Harvest Prep/Burg matchup, but gotta take it one game at a time in the tourney. If Burg can keep the pace up-tempo, they should get the win here.*
