Re: D1 College Football Prospects in Southeast Ohio

Wilburn just got ranked by them as well. National 968 Athl 79 OH 41. Pretty cool to have a couple athletes from SEO inside the top 50 in the state.

Re: Your schools best team(s) ever!

For NY, I think these are the six best teams all-time (in no particular order): 1981 - 13-0 State Champions 1982 - 11-1 Regional Champions 1992 - 10-1 Regional Semifinals, but had one of the best D's of all time (see below) 1994 - 11-1 Regional Runner Up 1997 - 11-1 Regional Runner Up 2017 - 13-1 R...

Re: In 1963, the state wanted to consolidate Nelsonville, York, Glouster and Jacksonville-Trimble into one school distri

So when NY first consolidated, there were around 175 kids per grade in every grade from K-9, with around 142 kids per grade in 10-12 (I'm guessing drop out rates maybe is why it is lower?) I know most of this is due to the Poston plant shutting down. probably some other jobs shutting down as well

They will play football in Glouster and soccer in Nelsonville
Don't you dare spread that gossip about that sport being played at Nelsonville

Re: In 1963, the state wanted to consolidate Nelsonville, York, Glouster and Jacksonville-Trimble into one school distri

With shrinking enrollments over the years, Nelsonville-York today is about the same size Nelsonville was by itself at the time of consolidation with York. Likewise, if Trimble and NY consolidated today, the student enrollment would be about the same as it was for just Nelsonville-York back when Nel...

Re: D1 College Football Prospects in Southeast Ohio

I believe Waverly's QB Hayd'n Shanks has the chance to go D1 if he continues to develop. With only one season as a starter under his belt and still two more to go, he has the opportunity to make some noise. He already has a very nice arm and as he continues to grow mentally he could develop into a ...

Re: Your schools best team(s) ever!

The 1981 Nelsonville-York team was the best. There is no second to them. The 2017 team would challenge them if only due to coaching. If they weren't better they were a close second. The only way the 2017 team competes with the 81 - 82 team or the 82- 83 to team would be playing ...

Re: Nelsonville-Yorks Keegan Wilburn commits to Ohio University

He will be an instant threat for OU. Hope so. But it's not as easy as some think. Seen a lot of tremendous players go D1 and not make an immediate impact. Huge step up from TVC-Ohio football to Ohio Bobcat football. I think if he stays healthy he could have a good career, but I'm not putting high e...

Re: The 20th Vinton County Head Football Coach Will Be...

That's a pretty bold statement, saying it DOESN'T happen. I know of one program in the area that is working on their system now and they have class time with the players to go over plays and calls at the line, keepings things fresh in their mind and adding to it as well. Not to mention getting the ...

Re: Nelsonville-Yorks Keegan Wilburn commits to Ohio University

Congratulations to the young man! Hopefully some NY fans can answer my questions here, what position will he play for at OU? I know he’s considered an athlete but what position did he line up in most? He'll line up in the slot. Much like Papi White. He's not a 6'3 lanky reciever but he definitely h...

Yep. And that group at NY was loaded. Did even better the next year once coach Richards figured out where to put all the talent. But it's doubtful VC has that kind of talent returning over there. I sure hope not for the sake of the rest of the TVC Ohio. " Guess you don't want to get the c...

Not until the 18th?? Guess you don't want to get the coach in there and get him working on his system and working with boys in the weight room, getting out there and trying to get players to come out. Showing his face and building relationship with players and try to get them to buy into his system...

How much you got to lose OSU? I'll match whatever you put up. We gotta get this scheduled. I can win a mint of you guys who think the older teams can beat the 17 guys. Not from Nelsonville, but knew Coach Boston Sr personally. I saw both play and the 2017 NY team would get physically destroyed playing the '81 team. Also, the '82 team that lost in the regional finals, at I believe Lancaster, would have beaten the 2017 team. I understand different styles of play, b...

Re: The Rivalry-Rich Football of Southeastern Ohio

That is the kind of shortsighted thinking I would expect to find. Before that game, your program was rolling everybody in Southeastern Ohio. After that game, you're a losing team. Clearly, the tipping point was getting involved with Fort Frye at all. It isn't too late to back out while Nelsonville ...

The 2017 team would challenge them if only due to coaching.
