Re: TVC OHIO 2017
I think Athens has the best rotation overall, but Meigs will also be very good. I heard a rumor that Bartrum might not be playing. Any truth to that? That would be a huge blow if so. Alexander is always good, but their rotation drops off significantly after Harris, I think. I'll go with this as my ...

Re: Meigs @ Athens 2/11
Should be a good one. Meigs might be the biggest sleeper in the District. Some would say this game is "meaningless" as it has no league implications nor seeding implications. But no competitor (player or coach) would ever entertain such a thought about any game, much less a league rival. T...

Re: TVC POY: BARTOE OR LUTZ
I will have to disagree. NO ONE in SE Ohio can penetrate and get to the rim like Bartoe. Lutz is taller and more athletic but to say better ball handler and in transition....I don't see it. Also I'm not sure on the exact percentage but Bartoe is also somewhere in the 90% range on FT's as well. Both...

When you say "Bartrum" are you referring to Cody or to Zach? Do both play?

Re: Scheduling up , Likes and Dislikes
I think it depends on your team. As mentioned earlier, if your team has talent and potential to make a deep tourney run then scheduling up can really help. I really like when teams schedule challenging scrimmages for several reasons beyond just preparing for season ;) If your program is struggling,...

Re: Athens @ New Lexington 1/17
IMO Butcher is one of those type of players... doesn't play like a freshman. He has poise and obviously knows the game. He can play inside, battles for rebounds and has strong hands... AND he can shoot outside. I'm not an apologist, I've never actually had a conversation with him. I just see many of...

Re: Athens @ New Lexington 1/17
Dickleman, Hines and Chubb are 6'3 at best. Hines will be a good post player as he gets older, just a young pup at the moment. Defending the post has been an issue all year. Athens leading rebounder is its point guard. Either they have to (a) box out better or (b) box out better. You can try (C) an...

Re: 2017 Season
Athens has a big senior class but also has some very strong young talent coming into this season. A lot of different guys can contribute. Always very difficult to repeat a huge run from the previous season, but would like to see it continue.

Re: The D2 Logan Sectional
Yes, Griffin played at the Convo as a 4th scoring option. I'd like to see him play their now as the leader of the team. That 4th scoring option led the team in a game at Akron St. Vincent St. Mary's that season, if I recall. No Joe Burrow carried Athens vs Akron SVSM both games. At SVSM it was Joe ...

Re: Warren vs Athens
I believe Athens is better equipped to match up with Warren this year. Don't care what the scores vs. common opponents were. It's all about match-ups and who plays better that day. If Athens can play more disciplined defense they will be in this game.

Griffin Lutz is going to need some players step up and hit some shots-but with that being Said he needs to continue to take it to the Rim-but if 3 or 4 guys are in his Face he needs to kick it to his Wings-Sometimes he just tries to do too Much-Players are wide open on the Wing and he is Forcing th...

Have seen both these guys quite a bit. Would certainly hope the coaches figure out a way to give a co-POY. If ever there were a time in SEO basketball when it is warranted, it's this year and for these two. Incredible players.

Re: 2017 Season
Marietta is certainly going to be solid for sure. If I am correct in my memory, 5 or 6 of those seniors have been playing varsity ball since they were freshmen. There are many factors that go into teams making tournament runs, some of which are difficult to explain (such as "getting hot")....

Re: Importance of junior varsity basketball
Great topic. JV teams for any sport are vital to the long-term success of the program. Any school that consistently cancels its JV games is creating nothing but a recipe for a declining and dying program. On a practical note, JV provides a needed transition from middle school to high school (varsity...
