Re: Congratulations to Zach Loveday - National Champion

In quick research, I have noticed two players from the Southeast District that played in the NCAA Division 1 Men's Final Four. Zach Loveday from Gallipolis and Leroy Frazier who played for Ohio State in the Semi-Finals of 62-63 against Wake Forest (featuring Billy Packer) and scored a basket in that...

Re: Prayers for Kent Sanborn

We are so blessed in the Southeast District to have a number of people that I consider friends of high school sports. Timekeepers, scorebook keepers and other workers at games and also longtime fans of some schools. Kent Sanborn was one of those people - sitting and standing in the corner - with alw...

Re: D4 draw.

Peebles, Notre Dame and Trimble appear to be the toughest teams in Div IV in the district. Peebles has played a very tough league schedule and has picked up a couple of nice non-conference wins. Notre Dame hasn't played a tough league schedule but they have played some good non-league teams in Trimb...

It would be hard to believe that there is another family in the State of Ohio that scored more points than the Justice Family. From dad & mom on down, a great basketball family (nice people too)

Re: SEO Club Football League (Peebles, Georgetown, Southern Buckeye, West Union, North Adams, Manchester)

They are having their championship games in all divisions tomorrow (except JH which was played last week I believe). The high school title games is between Peebles and West Union at West Union (they split games with each other - each winning on their homefield). West Union has had a club team for a ...

Re: RD 3: Nelsonville-York (5-2) @ Fairland (6-1)

The crews for the football playoffs were selected differently this year. Probably because of expenses, the first three rounds of the playoffs were regular season crews - not crews selected by voting - and they were from the area of the host school. There are some very good crews in the Southeast Dis...

Re: Playoffs 2020 Minford 51 - 53 Piketon

A very entertaining game Saturday Nite. Great individual performances by Gullion of Piketon and Vogelsong-lewis and Pica of Minford. The Redstreaks were able to overcome a 34-14 deficit to win. Particularly in the second half, Piketon was able to take control of both lines of scrimmage. I know some ...

Re: Bailing Out The OHSAA

The OHSAA simply manages high school sports in Ohio. The member schools elect board members who appoint a commissioner. The OHSAA isn't some evil, mafia type organization. They exist because of the inability of schools to police themselves. They have to deal with a number of issues that schools, coa...

Re: Coaching 101

I will respectfully disagree with that. When you rely on human judgement, there will be mistakes. Officials don't enjoy making mistakes. As an official, if you make a mistake, it will eat at you for awhile. In this case, Coach Webb kept his composure and gave his team a chance.

Re: 15% attendance

Again, the high schools own OHSAA - they elect the officers of the OHSAA - it would be against their own interests to not care about regular season.
They may not receive revenue from the regular season but their owner do.

Re: 15% attendance

OHSAA is not some monster that some people claim it to be. They are actually all of the high schools in the state of Ohio, so you are wrong that they don't care about regular season attendance. Every school is concerned about attendance so the OHSAA is concerned. OHSAA would not exist without the hi...

Re: 15% attendance

I believe that people are putting the blame on the wrong group. OHSAA would love to have the gates wide open. It is the State of Ohio and in particular the Dept. of Health that is limiting attendance. Because of budget issues, OHSAA would milk every dollar possible if they could.

Re: Notre Dame 2020

I have never been a fan of "the blame game". (Although I do blame John Cooper for making the 90's the most miserable decade of my life). I believe that every high school coach - either head coach or assistant - tries to give their team every chance to achieve success. I know a number of co...

Re: Notre Dame 2020

Notre Dame is 1-2 so far in 2020. I think most reasonable people think that is exactly where they would be at this time. They were out-talented by West as the control of the line of scrimmage by West indicated. Yes, they could have defeated NW but turnovers doomed them (sometimes the other team has ...
