Re: Notre Dame

I sometimes get amazed at what we expect from high school coaches. Every coach - head coach and assistant - do their best with what cards they are dealt. Yes, sometimes the results aren't what we expect but the other team has something to do with that. The coaching staff of ND (and every other staff...

Re: Week 1 Notre Dame @ West

Actually this is the type of game you want to play with the COVID restrictions. You only have to travel a few miles and this year, you don't have to worry about computer points.

Re: Burg radio or video this year

OHSAA is providing guidance and help to the member schools. But the Mandatory requirements are those of the Ohio Dept. of Health. OHSAA is simply providing the sport. But the judge, jury and hopefully not - the executioner - is the Ohio Dept. of Health.

Re: Burg radio or video this year

You are both correct. OHSAA instructions say all media wears a mask at all times. But the Ohio Dept. of Health - DIRECTOR"S ORDER - states on page 5 -paragraph vi no. 5 states - The Individual is actively participating in broadcast communications (this is one of the exemptions).

Re: Coaching Vacancies 2020-2021

Matt Carson is a class act and was at both Fairfield and Lynchburg. He would fight for his team during a game (which I expect a coach to) but before and after a game was great to be around. Also a very good umpire. There is an old saying that there are two types of coaches. Those that have been fire...

Re: RIP Dan McDavid

Danny was a great contributor to high school sports in our area. He played at Green and also coached football and baseball there. As a coach, he led Green to the final four in baseball and also trips to the State Football Playoffs. He also was an assistant football at Northwest and was a present mem...

Ed Ratleff was also a star at East on those teams. It would have been interesting to see which team was better in Columbus. The East team or the Walnut Ridge team of Ed Stahl a few years later. Both teams had numerous DIV 1 College players.

Re: Best College Basketball Player of All Time

The late 60's and early 70's was the era of the "Gunners". Not only did you have Pete Maravich, you had Calvin Murphy of Niagara, Bo Lamar of SW Louisiana, Johnny Neumann of Ole Miss, Rick Mount of Purdue, Dan Issel of Kentucky and others. An interesting name of the past was Travis "M...

Re: Burrow or Picks No. 5, 18, 26, 39, 56, and 70

The Bengals batting average with drafting quarterbacks in the first round hasn't been exactly good. They drafted David Klingler, Jack Thompson, Akili Smith and Carson Palmer in the first round and with possible case of Palmer - none were very successful. They have had more success with 2nd and third...

Re: 1981 AFC Championship Game: Chargers vs. Bengals | "The Freezer Bowl" | NFL Full Game

I used to have season tickets to the Bengals in the 70's & 80's. inside the stadium was not bad at all as the circular stadium kind of blocked the wind. But walking from the car to the stadium and returning after the game was almost unbearable. What I remember most about the game was the extreme...

Re: What has happened to Notre Dame Football?

The year that Notre Dame went unscored on in the regular season - they lost to Columbus Grandview Heights - Grandview kicked a field goal just before the half to break the streak. The year before, they lost 3-0 to Newark Catholic at Cooper Stadium.
