I'm really surprised no one is talking about this game. Anyone know when was the last time they played. Someone told me they never have in football but that can not be true.

I will predict:

Portsmouth 28
Valley 14

Both teams on a rebounding year but I think Portsmouth has more speed and talent at the skill positions.

Feel alot better about this game now that I watched Piketon scrimmage @ Portsmouth. Watched the varsity play the first half. Piketon 14 Portsmouth 7. Really thought Portsmouth would put up more points against Piketons Defense considering how they looked against Valley a week Prior. IMO I see Valley as at least a 14 point favorite against Portsmouth next Saturday. Cant wait :aaaaa26

Should be a good game I still think valley pulls it out mainly because of it's at valley. I agree it's hard to judge based on a scrimmage but valley had no prob moving the ball they just could not stop piktons receivers. From what I seen I don't think no one would stop them tho.

I still see alot of talent on this years Valley team. The D seems to have some speed I think the QB is going to be one of their weakness. I would like to see the freshmen QB start he looks alot like Yates standing there in the pocket. I still think Valley will win this one

Postby Crab's brother » August 21st, 2012, 2:19 pm

There are a lot of questions that will be answered in this one Saturday. Valley has to replace a ton of talent starting with Yates and Keller. There are some very good skill players returning that have carried the ball before. Will Howard will do fine at quarterback. He is not going to be Blake Yates because there aren't very many that can be. The biggest issue for this years team will be depth and experience on the offensive line. Valley lost a lot of starts upfront from last year. The heat (forecast is 92 saturday) may really hurt the Indians. There are a few guys on the defensive and offensive lines that are going to be counted on to go both ways and if they can't do that Saturday it could cost Valley.

The thing that has me confident going into this weekend is the physical style of Valley. The past several years when I have seen Portsmouth they have seemed fairly athletic, but also very soft. I feel that Valley maybe able to have some success running the ball right at the Trojans and wear them down. I think Valley can control the LOS and the clock to keep Portsmouth's play makers on sidelines. Should be a good one into the 4th no matter what.

Dont think they do anymore. They didnt do it last year and they did a few basketball games but dont think VSN is up anymore. I'll put the link up but i dont think they have anyone to do it anymore.

I see valley with the W ,they still have some experience and quite frankly portsmouth seems to have no direction and leadership to succeed at football these days. MD

One thing I have noticed the Portsmouth schedule has Valley,West,Wheelersburg,Minford and Ironton for the first five games. If they loose tonight the next four games doesnt get any easier I predict a 0-5 start for Portsmouth GO SOC..!!!!

ManitouDan I agree, There seems to be alot of media hype over the replacement of two players that led the area in those positions from last seasons team. I remember seeing these same players that are now replacing those and several others that led the departed to victory in the same skilled positions. Valley is not in peril yet as some might think, they have a stable of very good backs that can pound the ball down the field, and some recievers that can catch and stretch the field. The key will be the line and if they can step up and control it( as I think they will) this team will suprise alot of fans in the area. Never underestimate Coach Crabtree & staff of fielding a quality team. I'm going to say VHS 35 PHS 17 :122245
